Jack Swagger Returns, Elimination Chamber Set: Feb 01, 2013, WWE SmackDown Results
By Keelan Balderson | Feb 2, 2013 | TV and PPV, Wrestling News | Tags: Jack Swagger | Comments

WWE Smackdown results

Tonight began the build for the Elimination Chamber and it became apparent just how weak the World title picture is, with the Great Khali and Team Hell No having to make up the potential numbers. Although it was not expressly declared who would take part in the Chamber match, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Khali, Randy Orton, and a returning Jack Swagger were in contention, as long as they could impress General manager Booker T. It’s assumed they’re all in, but the broadcast didn’t really make it clear.

The other focus of tonight’s show was Alberto Del Rio waiting in the parking lot for the Big Show to arrive. When he finally turned up in his tour bus we got a nice dose of smashed glass and brawling, but there was something about the whole set-up that screamed phoniness. For example some random person decided to pull up in a car and sit there unmoving for about half an hour, until the brawl took place, when he was launched from the vehicle. Then Big Show escapes in a random car that just happened to be unlocked and ready to screech off. The little things in wrestling mean a lot and WWE has been overlooking those nuances in recent years.

At the end of the show while Del Rio was distracted by his match, Big Show appeared on the Titan-Tron with Ricardo Rodriquez captive. Unable to save his ring announcer, the Mexican Hero had to watch him get KOed!

Also in a move that doesn’t bode well for the Tag Division, Team Rhodes Scholars mutually went their separate ways to pursue singles careers, although they vowed to remain best friends.

Results:

Sin Cara & Rey Mysterio def. Team Hell No:
In an exciting high-flying contest, without a skipped beat, the returning Rey Mysterio and Sin cara managed to get one over on the Tag Team Champions. Rey got the victory with a 619 and Top Rop Splash on Daniel Bryan.

The Great Khali def. Jinder Mahal:
Khali squashes the 3MB member with the Punjabi Plunge.

Sheamus def. Damien Sandow by DQ:
Before either man could get the clean victory, The Shield interfered and took out Sheamus.

The Shield are starting to lose their impact. If creative don’t give them some matches and some extended mic time soon, it’s going to start to fizzle out. Their impressive showing at TLC has been forgotten because they didn’t get any real follow up.

Randy Orton def. Wade Barrett:
Why is that all WWE can think of for Randy Orton is to put him match after match with Wade Barrett? Not that they can’t get it done, but we’ve seen it already! Tonight Orton got the victory with an RKO.

Before Barrett could address the loss backstage he sneak attacked Bo Dallas and left him lying in a heap.

Jack Swagger def. Kofi Kingston:
In an intense return match Jack Swagger was able to capitalize on a missed Trouble In Paradise, which collided with the announce table, by hooking on the Ankle Lock.

Alberto Del Rio def. Dolph Ziggler:
During the physical contest that followed, a Del Rio attack from the top rope was thwarted by an interfering Big E Langston. Their interaction quickly escalated and Big E was promptly ejected from ringside. Del Rio managed to counter Ziggler’s Zig Zag in the final moments, finally overcoming The Showoff with the Cross Armbreaker.

Superstars Results:

In this week’s episode of WWE Superstars, which still airs internationally, The USOs defeated Primo & Epico with the Splash, despite interference from Rosa, and Kofi Kingston defeated Michael McGillicutty with the Trouble In Paradise.
