Nigel McGuinness Snubs WWE For TNA, Raw Rating, Boogeyman Update
By Keelan Balderson | Oct 21, 2009 | Wrestling News | | Comments

- TNA have managed to sweep in and sign former ROH star Nigel McGuinness before he signed his FCW contract. It seems the deciding factor was that TNA have given him a push right out of the gate.

At last night’s Impact taping he debuted and attacked Kurt Angle in the center of the ring. His ring name will be Desmond Hawk.

What would you choose, a main event push from day one in TNA, or a WWE developmental deal with no guarantee of a main roster spot?

- This past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw featuring Snoop Dogg as guest host drew a 3.3 cable rating on USA Network.

- Former WWE star the Boogeyman who had missed several Indy dates and appeared to be missing was actually on a spiritual journey in Argentina’s Appalachian Mountains.

Sometimes its good to just drop everything; good for him!

A move to TNA is a good decision. If he had gone to FCW then he wouldn’t have the recognition from being on a broadcast. Besides if he really wanted to go to WWE then TNA would be a much better place to develop until that day.

“What would you choose, a main event push from day one in TNA, or a WWE developmental deal with no guarantee of a main roster spot?”

    Easy. TNA.

He could show up in WWE, and despite having years of wrestling experience and being rated one of the top wrestlers in the world, the fact would remain that Vince simply doesn’t know who he is, and therefore the guy would have a steep hill to climb just like everyone else whos not a second or third generation wrestler from Vinces WWF.

Take into account all these backstage BS etiquette politics (see: CM Punks last title reign) and I think right now WWE would be a very frustrating place to work for someone whos already paid their dues and considered world class by many. In Vinces world, until youve ‘made it’ in the WWE, you havent ‘made it’ at all.

I think should he ever want a future in WWE hes made the right move accepting main event level status in TNA. All the agents in the world could barter to Vince “He’s one of the best Indy guys in the world” and I dont think he’d bat an eyelid. However “Hes one of TNAs top guys and wants to jump ship when his contract is up” is music to Vinces ears.

Remember the push R-Truth was given at first? A guy whos former WWE run as a tag team with Road Dogg wasnt worth remembering, left, ended up in TNA and become a big star, and then jumped ship to debut on the upper mid-card of Smackdown after 6 weeks of lengthy vignettes. It was only until Vince supposedly soured on his limited in-ring abilities that his push slowed down considerably – but even now hes still got more TV time than alot of others, even former upper-mid carder Fatt Hardy (How is it a soon-to-be-convicted junkie manages to look considerably better than that of his fat, orange mess of an older ‘harder-working’ brother? Maybe he should bugger off up a mountain in Argentina and reflect on his wreck of a life, cause right now Id actually rather see The Boogeyman jobbing every week instead of him. Sorry Matt, you deserve the burying theyre giving you right now – and people can blame the Jeff thing all they want for all I care. You semi-talented, riddle-loving cock jockey)

    Err, anyway…

After a somewhat legnthy run at the top in TNA, McGuinness will have the status to get McMahons attention and receive a nice healthy push, as long as he brings the goods. Good move Nigel.

Thanks for clarifying Keelan, I was hoping this to be the case. What happened to Colt Cabana is a prime example of why I hope the better wrestlers outwith either WWE or TNA go to TNA if they get the opportunity.

I hope that Bryan Danielson is another who goes to TNA. It’s not so much that I prefer it to WWE, I think Smackdown has been the best show this year, it’s just that I feel they have a better chance of featuring prominently with TNA.

“What would you choose, a main event push from day one in TNA, or a WWE developmental deal with no guarantee of a main roster spot?”

    Easy – WWE.

Because if you don’t make it onto the main roster you can always sihn for TNA and still get a push there anyway
