Turtles Sponsor WWE PPV, WWE Signs Football Star, Wrestlers In Movie
By Keelan Balderson | Sep 3, 2009 | Wrestling News | | Comments

- Thanks to Devin of http://prowrestlingevents.webs.com for sending this in:

WWE has announced that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up video game will be the official sponsor for the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view on October 4th, 2009.

- The newest addition to WWE’s FCW developmental territory is former Michigan State football player Kyle Rasmussen. Slam City Pro Wrestling School owner Ryan Katz commented: “Kyle Rasmussen is on his way to wrestling superstardom. He’s been offered a contract from World Wrestling Entertainment. He’s an academic All-American, pro football player. Kyle Rasmussen is the next big thing in the wrestling industry.”

- Joining Chris Jericho and The Great Khali in upcoming movie “Macgruber” based on a Saturday Night Live character, is now The Big Show, Mark Henry, Kane and MVP.

It is not a WWE movie though.

I’ve seen some of WWE produced films, and I may have figured out what’s wrong with them: they all have the WWE superstars as leads. Now, I know that’s the whole point of having WWE produced movies, but can’t you still produce and fund a GOOD movie starring more than capable actors as leads and the WWE superstars in a more supporting role? I mean, why not have a horror film where an established actor (or actress) is the lead at first, then GRADUALLY build the WWE Superstar (or Diva) into the main protagonist role? I mean, it would be a lot better than FORCING them into the lead off the jump, right? Also, by starting them off as supporters and building them, it gives you the chance to give the characters dimensions, instead of the one-dimensional action hero, aka anything John Cena has done so far.
BTW, why don’t the Diva’s have any movie roles? I mean, the majority of them can’t wrestle a darn anyway. And their main function is to be “eye candy”. Refine their “acting” during promo’s and place them in said supporting role, then GRADUALLY (being the key word here) slide them into the lead role.
