Funk Retires Again, NXT Results, Evolution Reuniting? New Hart Family Promotion
By Keelan Balderson | Jan 10, 2013 | Wrestling News | | Comments

Terry Funk retires for good?:
Wrestling legend Terry Funk, who was retiring before I was born, has vowed that this time he means it. The WWE Hall of Famer told the Ministry of Slam podcast:

“I had a match against Tommy Dreamer for a company (AWE “Night Of Legends in October, 2011) just over a year ago, and that truly and honestly is my last match. That said, there’s no point in being an idiot; if somebody approached me offering an extreme amount of money to wrestle, I’d be a fool not to. Take into consideration too that the quicker I’d lose, the more money I’d walk away with! Think about that! I am retired, but if some idiot wants to go ahead and give me much more than I’m worth, well then I’d take it from them! What I’ve often thought about it having one more show, where I’d sell the tickets for one million dollars a piece. If I sell one ticket, then I go ahead and I wrestle. If I don’t sell any, I don’t wrestle! Seriously, I am retired for good, but that doesn’t sound like too bad of an idea.”

January 10, 2013, NXT Results:
On this week’s WWE NXT, which airs locally and in the UK, Big E. Langston defeated Seth Rollins to become the new NXT Champion. Although it may take some time for him to get over with the main roster fans, the crowd for this one were hot! Here’s how the rest of the card shaped up…

- Bray Wyatt’s “The Family” (Luke Harper & Erick Rowan) defeated Yoshi Tatsu & Percy Watson.

- Paige def. Australian Emma.

- Primo & Epico def. Michael McGillicutty & Bo Rotundo.

- Big E. Langston def. Seth Rollins.

Evolution back together at Raw’s 20th?:
WWE are planning to reunite the Evolution group for one night only at Monday’s 20th Anniversary of Raw reports the Wrestling Observer. The feeling is that the recent DX reunions on TV and at house shows have gone down really well with fans, so the idea was put forth to do it with Evolution as well.

Obviously Triple H, Randy Orton and Ric Flair are all available, but it’s not clear if Batista will be brought back in, nor if he wants to be.

Bret Hart not involved with family’s new promotion:
WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart is not involved with the launch of a new promotion involving his family members.

Hart Family Legacy, which will debut next Friday 1/18 at the Victoria Pavilion in Calgary, Alberta, and has sold over a thousand tickets, has a whole host of wrestling names on board…

Bobby Lashley, Chris Masters, Kevin Nash, Konnan, El Generico, Sonjay Dutt, IWGP Tag Team champions Harry Smith & Lance Archer, Jack Evans, Scotty Mac, Johnny Devine, Jason the Terrible, Flip Kendrick, Lance Storm, Samuray del Sol, Bryon Wilcott, The Super Smash Brothers, Cody Hall (Scott Hall‘s son), Chasyn Rance and Matt Hart (Smith Hart’s son).

The show will also feature a legends ceremony with members of the Hart family, including Wayne, Keith, Ross, Diana, Georgia, Alison and Bret Hart’s ex-wife Julie. Former Stampede names Leo Burke, Great Gama, Gerry Morrow and The Cuban Assassin are also attending.

Bret Hart however has distanced himself from all past and present Stampede revivals, calling them a mockery.
