- There is said to be very low morale in WWE development territory FCW on par with the dieing days of OVW. The so called honeymoon period, where there was excitement about the new facilities is over and a lot of talent have become passionless. The feeling is that the system is flawed and that no matter how good you do you can’t make it unless you play the political game. One source pointed out that all the recent development stars that have made it are second/third generation stars with fathers working for the company or who are very close with the company. E.g. Ted DiBiase Jr. Cody Rhodes, Afa Jr, Jesse (Ray Gordy). Afa Jr recently failed a Wellness test, got caught DUI and tried cheating the Wellness policy but still got his main roster chance before other deserving wrestlers.
Instead of helping and preparing talent for their TV debuts, road agents are said to be extremely hard on the young stars and are almost “setting them up to fail.” There is said to be a counterproductive old school mentality, causing some road agents to treat talent poorly, because they didn’t work the territories and are being handed everything on a plate. The problem with this is it results in no new stars being made and development talent getting released days after they debut on TV because they weren’t ready or prepared. Dean Malenko has been mentioned by numerous released development wrestlers as a guy with a chip on his shoulder.
On top of this when you have stars like Triple H saying there is no talent in the development system and the wrestlers are too busy playing video games, and you have Jim Ross talking bad about the young guys on his blog there is not going to be a positive attitude down there.
- Speaking of politics media outlets who have been granted access to the Smackdown vs Raw video game have been instructed that they can’t take screen shots that show Triple H losing or being in a defensive position. If they do, their access will be cut.
