WWE Shockingly Releases Umaga
In a shocking move, WWE released Smackdown superstar Umaga yesterday evening and of course they wish him “the best in all future endeavors”.
Although no specific reason is given for the release, WWE have been finding it increasingly difficult to develop the Umaga character beyond the screaming savage. He was given the chance to speak on the mic, and it seems this cemented his fate.

just a shame. this reminds me of lance storm where you can have great wrestling ability but if you dont have a developed “character” your not going anywhere. such a shame umaga aka jamal was actually good

why would they realease umaga. i mean he is like a animal but he is wrestlings best superstars. he will probably do like mick foley and go the TNA. but if i now umaga, he might go to UFC with brock lesnar but go by a different name. he wont let his wrestling skills go to waste
dont get it. wwe is getting rid of all there best superstars. mick foley, sting, bobby lashley, and brock lesnar. what is wrong? wwe is just going insane. whats next? are they going to get rid of batista, triple h, randy orton, jeff hardy, edge, cm punk. just give it time thet might will.
I would say Umaga would be awesome in TNA, only one problem. Somoa Joe already has a Umaga character. Maybe they can bring in Umaga as Somoa Joe’s brother?
Well it would be easy to do a layered storyline faction. Just have Joe, then Tazz comes in as his manager. Then perhaps if manu gets in a little better shape bring him in as the apprentice. Then once Umaga is cleared to compete bring him in as the heavy. Just add one member at a time and you have a ready made stable right there.
Well they could say he came from Samoa to help Joe because it is national pride that is at stake!They could go the other way and say Joe’s family and Umaga’s family have been feuding for years!Now they are about to rekindlethe feud.

If they want to blame anyone for umaga’s lack of push its vince &the creative,some wrestling charictors are meantNOT TO TALK,the strong mostly silent type is the best for some peaple,if they release another good one that they ruined i might stop wacthing wwe for a while.tna might not be the best but they do have some sense onhow to use talent

Well looks like WWE is definitely trying to go down another road… I just can’t see what kind of road this is. I mean first Kennedy now Umaga. I can’t say that either one of them were my absolute favorites, but they were definitely close. Kennedy was awesome on the mic and when he was healthy his in ring work was great too. Umaga was great in the ring as well, especially for his size and weight.
And as for a comment made earlier by Kashaya bond, trust me they will never get rid of Orton or Triple H. and I’m sure that Batista will retire before they release him. He has said himself that he probably only has one more decent year in him. Oh well wrestling simply isn’t going down a good path right now, hopefully something changes in the next couple years and it gets more exciting again…
Letting go skilled talent just because your creative team isn’t creative enough to get the job done, doesn’t make any sense. Sounds like WWE needs fewer butt buddies and more talent.

I agree that it seems a bad move move, especially with the Nation of Violance one of TNA’s major storylines. They could of at least kept him for one more week and had someone in need of a push have a pinfall win over him.
Maybe that explains CM Punk’s possible heel-turn at the end of the show?
I’m surprised anyone still watched WWE anymore. I mean, come on, it’s sucked since Rock and Austin retired. Now it’s back to where it was before those guys hit it big.
And for all the Randy Orton bashing, the guy is actually the only interesting character on the entire roster, speaking as someone who loved wrestling and got back into it during the attitude era.
But face it, wrestling died when Vince bought WCW.
You know, I remember Manu getting canned in part because he dosent have “the look”. Then I see Umaga who has the same look, just older. Now he’s canned. Is this orton too? Or is it an anti-Samoa movement. Remember Rakishi? without the Rock, no Samoan will work the big stage again. Vince may be an anti-Samoanite.

HOWever, as sad as I find the release of Umaga.. The WWE is simply too big and thus under too much scrutiny to let any more “wellness-policy” violators off the hook so easily.
I thought Umaga contributed to a great bit of cultural diversity in the WWE, but considering the amount of scrutiny they’re under I can, at the same time, sort of understand their decision to let him go.
Several factors play into this, the main one being .. well, “wellness”. Consider how much the WWE has been struggling with accusations of steroid and other drug abuse over the years. With their current PG-rating crap, they probably feel a need to reflect a positive image publicly.
I dunno what Umaga did; maybe he took one too many painkillers or maybe he did nothing at all and was politicized out of the roster. Either way it blows, but them’s simply the breaks sometimes.

well i say that even though it may seem wrong at times, it is a buisness. wrestling in part is about who will bring people into the arenas. you have what you can call the a-list wresatlers like , cena,hhh,batista, orton, big show, edge. then you have the b-list of up and coming talent, morrison, punk, mvp, and so on. not everyone is going to make it to the level of cena or hhh. they see how the crowed reacts to a wrestler, and if a new wrestler can be developed into a top star. you have to remember alot of our top wrestlers did not start out on top. even though triple h was part of dx he became a bigger star once he went solo. as we all know some wrestlers have more then one name in their career. batista was know under a couple of different names, and when the time was right they developed him. i think that spot opened up after goldberg left. as far as wwe going down hill? well it may can lose viewers, but it will never end. you see what happen with wcw, it was big, so big at one time i was watching it instead, but ted turner sold it to vince who phased it out some wrestlers went to wwe some did not. then he bought ecw, and kept ecw, but it did lose it’s edge as extreme wrestling. now you have TNA which is growing into a bigger organization. but will it ever get to the level of wwe? i doubt it, cause wwe has monday night raw, and friday night smackdown, and ecw, tna has only the one show, and wwe has more pay per view shows. i think and i could be wrong that tna will one day bo gone, either out of buisness or bought out by vince.

The wwe should stop releasing good superstars because they will lose ratings, it’s not as exiting as it used to be.

According to the WWE corporate site, umaga was terminated because of his second violation of the WWE wellness program and refusal to attend a rehab clinic.

Wwe is awesome!!! For one thing there is a new guest host every week on Raw now. And the worst thing about Raw now is that week by week Randy Orton and Legacy come out thinking that they can do anything and rewin anything in there path. But let me say one thing and that is that if they think they can do that why wont they look at what there going for later on in there career. What im saying is that at the Wwe Draft they might get drafted and that would be wonderful. But what im hoping for every week now is that they wont pass a drug test. So that would mean they would be suspended for a very long time. Or maybe even forever. That would be a dream come true!!!
