WWE Interested In Kevin Nash and Awesome Kong, Doug Williams Update
- As I reported a few weeks ago Kevin Nash’s TNA contract is up soon and management have tried their best not to give him any bargaining power, so that he’ll re-sign for a deal similar to his current one. The main reason the Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash storyline has been halted and an eventual match put off was to prevent Nash from demanding money to keep the Angle from stopping abruptly. If the fans felt something was coming, Nash would have better grounds for negotiation.
Despite this it seems Nash has hustled himself in to a great position, not only has he refused to do certain things in the ring, he has also openly bashed TNA creative on the internet and on top of this he’s sent feelers that WWE are interested in signing him. Whether there’s truth to this or not the rumor goes that WWE want to bring back Nash as a bodyguard for Shawn Michaels and slot him in to the Jericho feud, ultimately giving the rub to Lance Cade. He can now play off this to get a better TNA deal.
- The Wrestling Observer is reporting that there is at least some interest from WWE in signing Awesome Kong, who’s TNA contract is up in October. WWE are trying to move the women’s division in to a more “wrestling” related product and Awesome Kong is no longer an insane idea for the WWE.
- The UK’s own Doug Williams, who was part of the TNA World X-Cup has signed a one year deal with TNA, although he has yet to relocate to the US and is finishing up his home soil commitments.
Keelan’s Call:
It amazes me that so many sites and veteran reporters claim that Vince McMahon is not aware of the TNA product. My guess is Vince or his delegates have been watching the TNA women’s division over the year and are ready to poach its talent and in effect the TNA women’s brand. The main problem is that TNA will probably let them all sign with WWE because despite putting on a great product they have no faith in the women’s division. Although the women are consistently the highest rated segments on Impact none of them make the same kind of money as any of the mid-card men. What does that tell you? A lot of the women are desperate to jump to WWE and if TNA doesn’t start matching salaries or at least giving non insulting deals then they are going to be hurt.
As for Nash, that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody.
