WWE Goofs Storyline, Chris Nowinksi News, Widow On The Wrestler

- Although in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter, technically in a storyline sense Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are divorced. Most people would have forgotten (or never known) that this is true, but WWE seems to be the only TV show that constantly rewrites its history.

- Former WWE star Chris Nowinksi and his Sports Legacy Institute have once again got some media attention following the Verne Gagne incident, that saw him attack a fellow dementia patient in his assisted living quarters. They have brought up the link between athletes, concussions and Alzheimer’s/dementia, and Nowinksi is quoted in the Minneapolis Post that he wouldn’t be surprised if Gagne suffered brain injuries from all his years in the business.

Of course after the Chris Benoit tragedy, Nowinski studied Benoit’s brain and determined that due to years of undetected concussions his tissue resembled an elderly Alzheimer’s patient.

- The widow of legendary wrestler Lou Thesz didn’t have many kind words for The Wrestler movie stating “I respect the independent film industry and working within a budget, but more research would have been a good investment. I didn’t consider it a statement on the lower end of professional wrestling, as much as on the lower end of humanity. However, if wrestling was the chosen venue, why not have the professionalism in the film industry to honestly represent the wrestling industry? I am not denying the seediness of pro wrestling at its lowest level. I guess it is how my doctor friends feel about medical shows … we are a little too smart for our own enjoyment.”

  1. I may not get it right but as far as i know HHH and Stephanie arent divorced maybe i didnt get it right from what u posted

  2. Not in real life, but several years back they divorced on camera as part of a storyline, so in the “WWE Universe” technically they are divorced.

  3. I wouldn’t call it a goof, though. It’s not the first time they’ve done something like this. Like with the Matt Hardy & Edge thing. Edge had JUST finished “stealing” Lita from Kane (who stole her from Matt, if I remember right), and then Matt shows up and basically says “It was all storyline. In real life, she was never with Kane and Edge stole her from me!”

I’m taking this as the same thing. Where, after enough time has passed (like this), or when given a good enough reason (like Matt outing the situation to the world online anyway), the WWE just outright says “That was a storyline. It was fake. This is how it really is.”

Though, that does beg another question. Doesn’t them publicly admitting old storyline stuff was storyline make their CURRENT storylines less credible?

  4. they are simply breaking kayfabe….it has nothing to do with the storyline back in the day when HHH stole her from Test…
its making it very personal by showing that in REAL LIFE they are married and have kids..and Vince is his father in law… i mean anybody who follows wrestling knows this already..they just now implemented it into the “show” storyline…just making it very intense and personal taking the McMahons vs a superstar..like in the old days.. also can create future storylines.. HHH vs Father in law for in control of company kind of things..good set up for hte future

  5. I agree, and it works because the audience has changed and has no idea about the past, but to people who do it blatantly screams “well those were fake but this is real,” which ruins everything.
