Who Actually Is Entertaining In Today’s Wrestling?

Tyson Kidd:
Whether it be his incredible scream when locking a submission in or that ridiculous haircut theirs something about that Kidd. With the Hart Dynasty he’s come to have a more prominent role in ECW and with his variety of kicks is certainly an interesting one. He may be small but with the right push he could be extremely good for WWE in the next year. All he needs now is a new finisher.

The Miz:
Everyone’s current favourite loud mouth, The Miz is certainly entertaining on Monday Nights at the moment, however all of his momentum was almost crushed in an instance when Big Show knocked him out a few weeks ago in a unnecessary piece of business. He’s picked up his heat but he needs to be handled carefully and not aloud to lose if he is to remain a prominent part of Raw.

CM Punk:
Personally one of my favourite wrestlers right now and simply a joy to watch develop. A heel turn appears to be on the cards for this man and it should be an excellent fit for this man. If you haven’t seen him work as a heel, both vocally and in the ring he is fun to watch and I believe a run with Hardy is the fresh exciting feud that many fans have been wanting from WWE for nearly a year now.

Chris Jericho:
This man never ceases to surprise me in an industry where there are few surprises left. His attack on Mysterio was fantastic two weeks back, his promo’s are of a consistent quality and his match with Rey at Extreme Rules caught everyone’s eye. I’m looking forward to a feud with The Undertaker leading into Wrestlemania 26, which I think is where they will go.

R-Truth:
The man from North Carolina is finally getting some form of push on Smackdown, as after having a nice push when first joining the company they seemed to burst his bubble prematurely. For months we only seemed to see him Job to others however recently he has notched up more than one win and hopefully this marks the start of some sort of feud on the mid card.

Gregory “Hurricane” Helms:
Is it weird for this to be one of the things I am most looking forward to in coming months? After seeing a recent hint at a return on ECW, it looks like the man who has been plagued with injuries will finally return.

Eric Young:
Personally an underused talent on TNA and was as glad as anyone to see him attack Jeff Jarrett. I think he has potential to at some point become a main event heel and reminds me a bit of Ric Flair at time. And if he has half the potential of that man we are sure to see some excellent work from this man.
Matt Morgan:
Never would I think I’d see the day when Matt Morgan impressed me. However he has been a delight to watch since his Abyss feud, as there is no doubt the man has talent on the Mic. His ring skills do leave something to be desired but since when has that stopped anyone in this business?

Beer Money:
At Sacrifice they reminded me why they are THE best tag team in wrestling today. They worked the crowd fantastically and as faces really shone in a different light, slowing the match down to a good pace and really looked like they were enjoying their trade. I even have their BEER! Money! tune on my iPod.

  1. I’ve made it known that I’m not a fan of The Miz, but I have to admit, he’s growing on me. While I still can’t stand him, I think most people feel like that, which means his character and persona are working for him.
CM Punk is one of my favourite wrestlers too, but I felt his character was getting a bit stale. I am really looking forward to a heel turn from him…
I have , and will, always love Chris Jericho. He is extremely talented in all aspects, both in wrestling and out of it.
The other talents you mentioned I’m not too familiar with, as I don’t watch ECW anymore, and don’t bother with TNA.

  2. You really should check ECW. Tyson Kidd is like a young Jericho.

  3. Is anyone other than me getting bored with the whole randy orton thing . look back when his dad wrestled he brought the ratings down. And as far as Rhodes and His partner goes I hear they are really gay. Maybe we could see their same sex marrage this summer

  4. man i dont agree with you, you have missed many names , without them WWE would be a piece of shit

  5. I just can’t get behing Kidd. I think it’s the horribly ridiculous haircut! Shallow? Yes, I know! But gosh, someone just needs to take a razor to that hair-lol :)

  6. Agree with all apart from Matt Morgan. Also feel that John Morrison is one of the most entertaining ring performers at the momment. Kurt Angle, Daniels and AJ are all still great wrestlers/entertainers.

  7. i don’t think any of the current crop are that entertaining.i think a lot of them have no strong character or gimmick.look back in years gone by with the likes of the Undertaker, Kane, Mankind, Big Bossman, Papa Shango, Demolition, Legion of Doom i would say that they were entertaining for both their ring attributes and their character/gimmick.

What do you all feel?has wrestling lost its appeal due to the loss of characters rather than just naming wrestlers after their real/stage names ie Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho…..although good wrestlers their names just dont shout “entertainment”

    what are your thoughts?

  8. Big Dave, I hear what you’re saying about Randy Orton. While I absolutely love him and he’s my second favourite wrestler (Triple H is number one!), I do feel like his character is getting a bit stale. As Keelan mentioned in this article, so was CM Punk’s and he will see new success as a heel in the WWE. I’m feeling like it’s time to shake things up a bit in regards to Orton. I hate to say it, but his character is becoming almost JBL-like in that I’m finding it harder to listen to him each week. (His wrestling is still top-notch, however.) If any of you have read my JBL article you will understand how unfortunate this is.

  9. Jake D: I agree about John Morrison; but he needs a bit of a push to really take it up a notch.

  10. Thankyou for the comments, I’ll try and respond to a few now.

This was an article about who in WWE is currently entertaining and by that I mean in the last few weeks, which is the reason for names like Edge not being there.

John Morisson is definately one of the better performers in ring wise but outside of it he needs to build up his character more and really be placed in a feud that allows him to talk.

As for the use of gimmicks I really don’t find it nessercary for most wrestlers, from time to time you’ll get someone like Undertaker who just perfects it but a lot of the time gimmicks don’t work or restrict wrestlers to the mid card.

  11. YOU FORGOT TO RATE THE LUCHA LIBRE WRESTLERS.

  12. John Morrison needs to be pushed to the moon. he is talented in and out of the ring, and us as wrestling fans are getting tired of the john cenas and batistas (big muscular wrestlers with no wrestling talent) hell what wrestler cant do the “attitude adjustment”/fu” but lets bring back the hbks, and bret harts, smaller wrestlers who arent on drugs who are talented and can put on great matches. Angle, Aj Styles, MMG,for tna, and evan bourne, tyson kidd morrison wwe
