Very Early Plans To End Undertaker’s Wrestlemania Streak

Source: Wrestling Observer

There are very early plans being discussed by WWE management to end the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania winning streak in the next 2 years. They don’t want a legend to send him packing like Shawn Michaels did with Ric Flair, but rather a new star that could be cemented as a main player by getting such a high profile victory. One of the names being discussed is Ted DiBiase Jr. Although they feel he needs a good two years before he will be ready. One possibility is to bring back his father Ted DiBiase and weave him in to a storyline, considering he was the person that (Kayfabe) introduced the Undertaker to the WWE.

This is obviously in its very early stages and WWE change things hundreds of times in one week, so one of two years, who knows what the plans will be. But it does reveal that they are high on DiBiase and want to build a mega star out of the match.

One thing that Dibiase has behind him is that he’s a “wrestling” guy from a “wrestling” family and is less likely to quit the WWE after being made a star like Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley.

  1. This would be a waste, Dibiase SUCKS just like Orton, Rhodes, Colon (Both), and Smith. If you’re going to give the streak to anybody make it someone who the fans will remeber and still be around in ten years, not a spoiled wannabe of past losers. The good that can come from this is that… well I can’t really think of any good that can come from it.

  2. Personally i thiknk the whole idea of someone ending Taker’s streak is a bad idea in general. I agree with Michael on everything. I know that they want to make a mega-star out of it, but it would probably end up like something similar to the edge and vickie fiasco when the “banished” the undertaker from the wwe. If it should end, it should be with a bang with Taker against a “Mega-Star”. Anyone thinking a Man kind vs Undertaker hell in a cell rematch???

  3. What a bunch of crap i say if the undertaker is gonna retire make him a legend by cementing his streak for the ages that way everyone will say the undertaker never lost a wrestle mania…ever! he will go down in history as one of the greatest wrestlers of our time, don’t take that away from the fans.

  4. Wouldn’t it mean more to lose to Taker than beat him at WrestleMania? I mean think about it, the guy that beats him will be rejected by everyone and eventually would be realsed because the crowd would hate him so much that they would turn him off. And if you lose your joining an elite group of stars that almost all will be in the Hall of Fame (Edge, Kane, Flair Triple H, Batista, Big Show, Superfly, Jake Roberts ect…) And I also agree with Michael other than Samoans, second and third generation stars suck.

  5. ted dibiase!! are you shit me!!! hes a fuckin jobber he sucks!! alooooot !!! if taker loses his wrestlemania steak against dibiase im gonna shoot myself.
just like these guys said; his oponent must!!! be a mega star like HHH OR AUSTIN in a hell in a cell match at wrestlemania or something like that i dont know

  6. You have to understand that this was a idea pitched for two years from now. Ted is a very solid new star that shows great potential and they obviously see something in him. Two years from now he could very easily be a star. Look at Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar. They reached the top in a short amount of time.

  7. Austin did not become a megastar by retiring another megastar. He became a megastar because the crowd loved him and what he did.

In any case, why should taker’s streak be ended in the first place?
That’s his legacy. Why can’t they let it remain that way?

Now I know when wrestlers retire, or leave, they have to job to another star before going. But there can be exceptions.

Especially when that wrestler in question is the Undertaker.

I just hope that they find a better way to retire him.
