Uprising – Week 7
Across the world the WWE Universe is calling for DIVAS! But will they really get what they desire. Is the supreme title reigns of May Young lost? Is the unadulterated dominance of Chyna overshadowed? Is the revolutionized world of women’s wrestling that Lita & Trish Stratus fought for still a dream?
In a PG era can the Divas of today make it to tomorrow or will they be Knocked Out by a greater force. Welcome to the Special Women’s Edition of Uprising…
The Sexiest of the Sexy
Maryse has definitely placed herself has top heel on Raw with her nonchalant attitude and impressive underhanded tactics. Really when you here diva’s champion Maryse should be the only thing to enter your mind as she defines the word in every sense. I would touch on her sex appeal but hell we all know she has that (and if you don’t then you should reconsider your lifestyle).
Her in-ring ability can be arrogant at times and notably vicious at others, which comes to no surprise given her background in martial arts. And her promos, whether backstage or ringside, often leaves a sense of mystery that we desire from beautiful women. English or French she fills the spotlight when given the mic and knows how to draw in the camera.
Yet in company where women are often frowned upon what counts is heart. Maryse has shown extreme dedication to the WWE by sticking with them in the development leagues even after failing to win the Diva’s Search three years ago. But I’m afraid that even this isn’t enough to keep her momentum rising to a Lita (heel) or Trish Stratus (face) status.
As the diva’s realm’s been thinning out more and more, those on top usually fall to push the champs and #1 contenders leaving the question: When will Maryse follow suit? I’d hate to see such a fantastic diva in her own rights be casted aside for the next pretty face however her future looks bleak. The Uprising is supposed to take a look at the stars of tomorrow but it’s hard to say if anyone can save the divas from this downfall.
Future Potency:
Diva, diva, diva. As Paul stated Maryse is currently the longest reigning Diva’s champ, which isn’t saying much but I do believe she’ll hold the longest reign on this title for as long as its active. I can see her dropping this and picking it up a couple of times before its vacated (hopefully).
The Match-Up:
Skipping this week because there’s only like 15 divas across each brand, (this is very sad).
Prime Spot:
“The All-American Diva”
I don’t care about the reasoning for her push in the beginning the fact is she makes dominate heel divas look good. I just wish she had some real competition or at least more competition. You would think making two women’s titles would inspire the WWE to actually get some female talent. Anyways look out for McCool cause she may put in a decade of destruction in the diva realm.
Crowd Attention:
The Hart Dynasty vs. Cryme Tyme w/ Eve
Let’s give it to one of the most vicious clotheslines performed by a diva this side of the decade, not to dispute that Eve didn’t put her on move set on display. This team rivalry is shaping up nice and the fact that Natalya was actually in it shows that playing the sideline isn’t all she’s going to be doing on SD. I expect a singles match between the two in the upcoming weeks that will further develop Eve and further show off Natalya.
Dead Weight:
SD’s Layla
There’s no arguing that Layla is one of the hottest WWE Divas out today but does she belong on in the ring. Right now she’s playing a role the many lower female heels play lose 4 out of 5 matches, play back up to top female heel and look mean. Now all of a sudden she has a promo with the jobber and she’s face. I hope we’re not expected to believe she can beat McCool for the women’s title now or any other diva for that matter since she’s teetered on the edge of no skill since debuting. I’m not saying she has no skill in the ring but to make a total 360 now seems pathetic.
Raw’s Beth Phoenix
After becoming Diva of the year and losing her boyfriend Beth has seemingly been casted into the dark. Not a promo, not a spotlight and most importantly not a win worth mentioning has come to Beth since Wrestlemania. I hope the WWE hasn’t lost their faith in our Glamazon.
Response to Peers:
– Lazar: I have to give you the credit here, I did overlook the rematch between the two and it would have been smart for the WWE to mention the NOC match. However, my point was made as I only wanted to shed light, at the time, onto the overused theatrics placed on John Cena and Wrestlemania.
– Jericho’s Partner: Chris Masters… this is the most believable choice since there aren’t many candidates but his heel appeal doesn’t even touch Edge’s and will only drag Y2J down (which is very hard to do.)
Christian would be my choice just because he has overwhelming potential to main event events. But as many have pointed out this has a 0.00.34% chance of happening.
Dolph Ziggler is also a great possible candidate but this would jump the gun a little too much and take away Rey Mysterio’s chance at a good rivalry since no one else has stepped up.
The Legacy will not break up anytime soon or the whole Ted Jr. slapping Ted Sr. wouldn’t have happened.
And Shawn Michaels is out of the question for the risk of abolishing their past feud, placing Shawn in a JBL type scenario again and reputing Jericho’s words about wanting a non-injury prone partner.
Either way “WHEN” Edge returns he and Jericho will main event, highlight and build Wrestlemania like Undertaker/Michaels just did. Show Sweeper!
Have a request on who should be featured on Uprising or you have a complaint about my opinions, then leave a comment and I’ll address it.
Next Week: ??? I’ll come up with someone most likely from Raw.

Im not sure if you watch TNA, but i have my hopes up for Robert Roode
I’m pretty sure Layla was only a face this week because she was in Miami, next week she will almost certainly go back to her role of filling in for Fox, which I find a terribly callous move by the WWE by the way.
Maryse is also the longest reigning champion in wwe at the moment I mean the rest of the champions barely have six or seven weeks Maryse has seven months.
P.S thanks for throwing in my name
layla is unlucky cos she hasnt got a push but i still like her cos shes from england!
she really is. shes just billed as being from america
