Uprising – Week 6
Across the world the WWE Universe is calling out for the old age of wrestling. They want the true wrestling of Hulk Hogan, Rick Flair and Four Horsemen of the 80s. They yearn for the Attitude Era’s unbound theatrics of Bret Hart, The Rock & Stone Cold. And they despise the movement of entertainment slowly falling from its peak with the loss of Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley and more recently Mr. Kennedy…
Kennedy…
But as this era is fading out to be reborn there are shimmers of hope for a new age of wrestling that will shine through the dawn of Children’s Censoring to become legends. This is the Uprising…
Air Bourn
I must admit that Evan Bourne is the most engineered high flyer to enter the four sided ring this decade. It’s like he was born with wings the way this guy takes off. It’s highly unfortunate that he was brought into an era of wrestling lacking a cruiserweight title or he would have giving it a great run.
So the question is: Can this cruiserweight highlight make it in a heavyweight world? Answer: HELL YEAH!
Bourne was given one of the best gimmicks I’ve seen in a long time for superstars on their first run in the WWE. “What gimmick?” You may ask; and that’s just it, there isn’t really one there. They having forced him to work his mic skills often and his weird promos just make him smile (his shiny white smile). This awesome gimmick of nothing makes you notice what’s important in wrestling…Wrestling.
Sure I have no doubt that Evans skills have made him push status backstage. But I also know that WWE writers love adding a story to their talent. And right now Bourne’s direction is shaky at best. You look at matches with him against Jack Swagger & Kofi Kingston and think this guy is awesome. Then you have the occasional big guy wrestling him and get flashbacks of how this match was better when Rey Mysterio & Jeff Hardy did it the last three years. In all the latter mentioned superstars career have been doing better facing normal size people. Evan Bourne has shown that he can hang with the best so keep him there.
Take out the giant BS added a slightly expanded storyline and keep showing off those aerial abilities and Bourne’s career will stay on the rise.
Future Potency:
If in the next 5-10 years the giants are expected to be 275-400lbs at best. This makes Evan a regular sized person that may bring home the big one, maybe.
Either a lucky pickup of the undisputed tag titles (1) or upon their split (3-5); IC/US four time and world title twice (at most).
The Match-Up:
I don’t if anyone else has noticed but I’ve been calling these great matches before they’ve happened.
Dolph/Morrison, Dolph/Mysterio, Bourne/Kofi, Morrison/Edge, Morrison/Punk.
Might be a coincident but hey I’m not complaining.
Evan Bourne vs.
– ???: this category is usually left for lower card superstars, the next being mid card and the last top stars. But really I don’t think anybody is worth Evan’s time at a lower level. He needs to be focused on mid carders and up.
– Dolph Ziggler: Let’s get it out there now. SD: Dolph is slowly taking the top spot in the mid-card by taking out Rey Mysterio and getting the go ahead from Edge/Jericho. Raw: Bourne just took out Kofi Kingston in a singles match with skill not luck. With impending title shots to come they might as well have a fight against each other first.
– Jeff Hardy: Though I doubt Jeff will be doing the retirement thing any time soon I can see a passing of the torch type match. The Shooting Star Press is truly one of the most dangerous moves because of its difficulty of performing. But Jeff would undoubtedly show Bourne that dangerous isn’t a level he wants to compete in.
Prime Spot:
“MVP”
Now Montel can easily be given an entire Uprising feature but he’s already made his spot in the WWE. The company already likes him since no one has held a title and not defended besides a few Divas (this doesn’t make him a diva). And his losing streak was so pathetic he made it look good. Then you have the face turn that adds a boost of moral support to your arsenal of moves and a quick regain of the US title.
MVP may not be the champ anymore but he still keeps his head in the main event light despite mishaps with Mr. Hemsley. So what they passed him up for what could have actually been a good match between him and Cena; at least with get to see an unexpected rivalry between him and Jack Swagger. Right…right…
Okay, if I’m not buying you over then let me say this. Despite MVP’s dating life and WWE’s obvious lack of confidence him (losing drastic push to stardom and US title), he has maintained a strong stand that hasn’t cracked yet. His role may be to act as Swagger push right now but he will reach the brass ring and become The Rock’s true successor (which will hopefully put him against Stone Cold’s supposed successor John Cenea).
Crowd Attention:
John Cena vs. HHH
A different turn of events this week, instead of talking about the best match I’ll talk about the worst. Okay the actual worst match was Chavo and the midget but still. Wrestlemania match on Raw my ass. You put the most overrated wrestler against the most overused wrestler and you get overshadowed by Smackdown week after week after week.
If the WWE had any sense they’d had pushed MVP in HHH’s match then have him lose to Cena in a grueling match. But know we once again have to suffer through a retarded ass Triple Threat match. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the WWE seems to be scared of placing Orton in a match with Cena without a third person. I digress.
Even if it wasn’t taped the outcome was highly predictable and the match was weak version of which face is better. Well one such Wrestlemania years ago has already proved Cena the better man. Okay I’m very bias, I mean, biased but this match was a load of Raw. And I’m sure you can read between the lines to see my true feelings.
Dead Weight:
Captain Charisma
Don’t tale this the wrong way but on ECW Christian is wasted talent. We all know it should have been Christian exposed as Jeff’s attacker. And we all know he outshines this petty make believe feud between him and Dreamer.
I’m not want to be constant watcher of TNA but I be damned if Christian didn’t step up into a well deserved main light that showcased the best of their (the company and himself) talent. I don’t care about the reasons whether its beef backstage or Jackass McMahon but Christian should have been included in one of the Trump Trades.
I doubt another miraculous trade is going to happen so unless he’s fired and rehired on another brand, Christian will be the dead weight of ECW.
(P.S. I hope Christian is Jericho’s partner just because of the various directions they can take that, especially when Edge returns.)
Response to Peers:
– Cody: Sorry but Shelton has been here for years and can’t really qualify for the requirements I’m looking for. But if you get enough supporters I’ll whip up something nice for you in two weeks. *coughs ‘Dead Weight’ coughs*
– Jimmy Wheeler: Okay, I have to make a slight correction to what you said. It’s true that most African-American wrestlers aren’t pushed to success often by the WWE but it’s not entirely the company’s fault. I like Bobby Lashley, for example, who quit after racial issues. But the man he was so often compared to, Brock Lesnar, quit over money. Others have been just known to quit cause of the company itself. It’s not the WWE’s fault that some of its talents can’t deal with the pressures inside the company, MVP hasn’t been complaining nor has Shelton. I just refuse to believe that a whole company is racist or the majority is racist, certain superstars just can’t separate emotion from business are respect what their paycheck looks like at the end of the night.
Have a request on who should be featured on Uprising or you have a complaint about my opinions, then leave a comment and I’ll address it.
Next Week: “Female Edition!” Throw in your votes about who should be the featured wrestler.

i know who is the jericho partner it CHRIS MASTER!!
i know what you mean bout the cena orton with a 3rd man thing. its pathetic. an u make a good point bout CC as y2js partners i didnt think of that lol sadly i doubt it will happen
Bourne has to stop getting “squashed” each week before he makes ANY impact at all. That might take a while too….
Yeah I guess your right about Shelton, but if your doing a Diva maybe it should be Rosa Mendes. I could see her becoming a Diva’s Champion in about a year or so.
(PS, I’d say Christian will jump to SmackDown as a heel soon, maybe make a stable with Edge and Jericho that is similar to the Un-Americans… but the only problem is who could main event ECW? Just to throw this out, Mr. Kennedy should have went to ECW instead of fucking Vladimir Kozlov, at least he would still be in WWE right? But like I said who’s gonna step up after Christian?)
Liked the article on Bourne he really is an amazing wrestler.
I think you should put Maryse in your next article. She has come along way in a short time. Plus she has been the diva champion for almost seven months and is currently the longest reigning champion in WWE.
Jericho is too talented a wrestler to have to deal with a Lex Luger “wannabe” like Chris Masters, who couldn’t, on his best day, be half the caliber of Jericho. Christian….definitely a strong partner, great skills and presence, but, unfortunately, unlikely. Ziggler, however, has enough enthusiasm to make up for his lack of experience and his character would mesh well with Jericho (maybe even in a mentor-like way). Too bad Jeff Hardy isn’t a heel…hmmmmmm….
I think it should be michelle mccool
whether she where got she is through backstage hookups or not she is an uprising diva.
You know what i hate, and you fail for it aswell.
“Raw becomes Wrestlemania”. That is another stupid getting Cena over thing. Cause it did happen at Wrestlmania however that was the first of two meet ups. The second at ~NOC 08~.
WWE tries to hard to make Cena look great that they will do stupidness like this and remind fans (unnecessary) of Cena past conquest, so when the match ends in a tie people can go “Cena would of won anyway”, however u forget the fact he lost to HHH at NOC a year ago, so wouldnt it of made more sense to build the match as NOC vome early instead of the stupidness they did.
Even you failed to notice this mate and you called Cena the better of the two however Mr Overated himself lost to HHH in a match more recent which shold make them even if not HHH better.
Ive lost my trail of thought so ill just post my rant
