Update On Steve Austin Movies, Piper’s New Movie, Steamboat Speaks

- Nasser Entertainment Group and Caliber Media Co. have wrapped principal photography on “Damage,” starring former wrestling superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin.

The hard-edged, bare-knuckles fight film is directed by Jeff King and also stars Walton Goggins (”The Sheild”), Laura Vandervoort (”Smallville”) and Donnelly Rhodes (”Battlestar Gallactica”). A Domestic theatrical deal will be announced in the coming weeks.

Austin, NEG and Caliber have partnered again on another film entitled “The Stranger,” which will begin shooting this summer in Vancouver. The project is described as a layered action picture in the vein of “The Fugitive” and “The Bourne Identity” with production set to begin in late May 2009 with Rob Lieberman (Dexter, The Tortured) directing.

The 2009 Hall of Fame inductee is also a member of the legendary tough guy studded cast of “the Expendables”.

- Speaking of movies, Hall of Famer Roddy Piper will be starring in Justin Paul Ritter’s Psychological Horror Feature Film “A Gothic Tale.” He will be doing a voice over/narrator role.

- Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat who will be inducted in to the Hall of Fame this year himself, was recently interviewed by Slam Wrestling in Canada and had this to say about Ric Flair inducting him.

“That was a great choice for me personally having ‘The Naitch’ induct me. He is going to induct a guy who he has wrestled against so many times. When people talk about the two of us, every time I am asked about him, it is about the respect we have brought to each other. We brought each other along early in our career when we were young back in the 1970s. What a fitting moment for him to induct me. Here we are with Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair and Steve Austin in the same night. What a great moment. The little spice on top of (his induction) is being able to wrestle in Wrestlemania 25. I was on the very first one. That is a number that really set me back — my God, 25 years have gone by! Time sure does fly. Both of them are going to be great moments. I’ve been asked if it might taint the moment of being inducted the night before and then getting into the ring. Not at all, I love it. To be able to do both on the same weekend is tremendous.”
