Ultimate Warrior Speaks On His Return To Wrestling
Alfonso Castillo of Newsday.com had the opportunity to interview the Warrior recently. Here is what he said about his return to wrestling for NWE in Spain.
“It was just the timing of things. I’ve been doing a lot of different things in my life entrepreneurialy. I have a family, a couple of young children – a couple of beautiful young girls. I’ve been living in New Mexico keeping myself busy doing a bunch of other stuff other than wrestling. This company had contacted me a couple of years ago and told me some of their ideas they had about what they wanted to do.”
“You know the challenge of it all. After 10 years, could I still do it? Could I still get in the ring?… Age wasn’t the factor that prevented me. That was never something that I thought about, but as far as an opportunity presenting itself here in the states and stuff – No, I didn’t see it on the horizon. I had forgotten about (wrestling) totally until NWE contacted me a few years ago.”
Keelan’s Call:
Something tells me Warrior didn’t charge his usual $20,000 per interview for this.
As I mentioned in my recent audio show We all know the real reason Warrior made his comeback was to get the notice of Vince McMahon and get a “payday” by facing him at Wrestlemania. After all Hulk Hogan drew crap when he faced the Big Show in Memphis. On his return Warrior drew 40,000 (albeit in Spain). Despite their legal troubles, if Vince think it’ll bring in the bucks then it may happen. And no TNA won’t fork out that much for Warrior.
