TNA Disses Wrestlemania, Jillian Engaged, Batista DVD, Is UFC Competition?

- In a recent hype package for TNA’s Slammiversary travel packages Tenay and West took a dig at WWE, saying “the competition” kept the fans separate from the wrestlers at Houston. Tenay said, “Do you think they stayed 45 miles away from Houston because it was more convenient for the wrestlers?”

“Well yeah!” responded West, “they stayed because it was more convenient for the wrestlers to stay away from the fans. What do we do? We stay with the fans.”

When it comes to live events TNA are often praised for their pre-show interactions with fans, especially Dixie Carter, who is often found posing for photos and carrying around a replica belt. However one has to understand that at the scale of WWE, things have to change slightly.

- WWE Diva Jillian Hall recently got engaged to former WWE tag team wrestler John Toland. Congrats to them.

- Despite his relatively short run in the grand scheme of things, WWE are looking to release a Batista DVD set going forward. The feeling is that although the legend and long time superstar sets sell well, they almost alienate the younger fans. In the past WWE would always release home videos on the current top stars.

- Although WWE are amendment to the media that UFC isn’t competition because they are “entertainment” a leaked internal memo sent around specifically highlights that WWE Superstars beat UFC Unleashed, when they recently went head-to-head in the timeslot.

In Vince’s wishful view WWE should be compared more to dramas and movies, rather than sports.

  1. This was another lame cheap shot from tna. I have had it with them. You know I sometimes complain about wwe and give advice because I know they can improve, but tna I have just completly given up on. tna did you forget about the wwe fan access tour, where everyone is allowed to meet their favorite stars and do pretty much anything? Tenay and West are sure ones to talk, probably the worst announcers in history should try and spend their time improving on tv and not hyping over everyone of wwe’s decisions. But Ill give you that you do always follow the fans, that is throwing flyers in peoples faces and invading every wwe show. You want to know the reasons why you can’t even beat ecw, is becuase everyone is sick of you. I’d like to see tna how you would handle fans getting at you 24/7. But seeing is how you are such a small company and don’t have that many fans at all, I shouldn’t get to ahead of myself.

  2. Agree with codebreaker on some things above as I think sometimes TNA spends too much time talking about WWE, and mentions them when it isn’t nessercary. To be honest WWE is the company that every year goes and visits the U.S Army abroard. Plus all of their wrestlers do Autograph signings and other things so I think thats harsh.

  3. Your right in so many ways but I wouldn’t give up on them just yet. WWE needs some sort if competition or this kids movement will make it unwatchable.
I also hate it when they take shots at WWE. It dosent work either, if anything it promotes them. Vince would buy TNA if he wanted it I think, but I’m sure he doesn’t.
I suppose I long for the “attitude” era to return. Beleive it or not, Ted Turner was good for wrestling. If nothing elce, he lit a fire under Vinces ass.

  4. if the attitude era were to ever come back it probably would come back the same way it came about the first time and that is when all these kids get older they’ll want more violence n all and vince will talk about changing with the times n crap, so that’s probably the only hope of it ever coming back.

  5. I don’t seem to understand the fact that tna has ‘hardly any fans’,, look at there crowds from team3d vs beer money enc, and i would hardly see from that that tna has hardly any fans… tna is ahead of wwe in a lot of things right now like, the womens wrestling which is a disgrace from wwe. whereas the tna knockouts actually get a chance! the x division wrestlers are doing the best matches on tv today. and wwe a bunch of old men that are needing to retire soon! i wouldn’t think that tna was that bad considering they do have the only olympic gold medalist from profeshional wrestling today8-). and as from don west and mike tenay. yeah they can get a bit annoying but there snidey comments are funny and people lilke you cant take a joke out of them!! the wwe storylines all repeat themselves, vince leaves for some reason then comes back then leaves then comes back. he needs to keep his ass doon for a minute and maybe think about getting some new women wrestlers and promoting tag teams rather than basing the show on john cena!!!

  6. they’re always flapping there gums about WWE and how they’re better than them, i would like to see them to make a tag team as popular as DX or nWo or a singles wrestler with as much popularity as Stone Cold Or The Rock Or Hulk Hogan. Just Re-Watching The Attitude Era is much more entertaining than TNA has ever been. The best Wrestler on TNA is Mick Foley.
