The Real Deal: Edge, One Of The Best

I know a lot of people despise him, but I just adore Edge. From what I understand, the man loves it if you hate him. To him it means he is doing his job correctly and is performing at the top of his game. Let’s face it—in many ways they do not get any badder, slicker, or more cunning than the Rated R Superstar.

When I first got to know Edge I hated him. I thought he was arrogant, mouthy, and pretty narcissistic. He was gorgeous and very sexy and you just knew he was so exceedingly well aware of it. When I got past all that and actually started paying attention to the man my opinion began to change. I slowly began to respect his profound intelligence, his astounding in-ring performances, and his masterful command of what mic time he was given. I watched the audience’s faces carefully when the cameras scanned the crowd and realized many of them were as seemingly transfixed as I was. Granted they were booing and holding up signs denouncing him, but Edge still had them all eating from the palm of his hand.

My next step into my transformation as a full-on “Edge head” was to buy a copy of his book “Adam Copeland on Edge”. To put it mildly, I was blown away. Not only is it by far the best wrestling book I have every read, but the man wrote it himself. As a six-time published author I can tell you writing a book is no way a small feat. I was so impressed that there was no ghost writer; he did it all himself. I have read the book twice so far, and I may do so again in the future.

Reading about Adam Copeland’s very humble beginnings, his slow but steady climb to the top, and his tremendous resolve won me over. This is no spoiled second or third generation wrestler; this is a man with a will of iron and the determination of ten men. Edge started at the very bottom and clawed his way to the lofty heights he has achieved. Nothing was handed to him; he proved his worth time and time again before the powers that be truly appreciated all he was and everything he had to offer.

I wish Mr. Copeland a long and successful career. I hope he is making things difficult for all his foes for years to come. I anticipate his current title reign will go on for quite a long time, and he has earned every second of it and then some. He needs to have just a long a career as Ric Flair, and just a grand of a send off on the day he retires. My proverbial hat is off to you, Edge; you made a believer and a life long fan out of me.

Keelan’s Call:
In my mind without a doubt Edge is the hottest heel in all professional wrestling right now. When he comes out I can’t help but smile at some of the vile things his does, such as kissing Vickie Guerrero in that disgusting lovey dovey way where if he called her “my little snubbles” it wouldn’t seem out of place, but would probably make you want to vomit. I LOVE IT! He’s relatively young and therefore hip, great in the ring and can talk with the best of the current crop. He doesn’t have Randy Orton, get the f**k off my TV heat. I love to hate Edge.
