Taz Talks TNA, WWE Drops Industry News, More Jim Ross
- Alex Marvez talked to Taz about joining TNA. He said TNA reminds him of the old ECW but with the TV contract. He was complimentary of WWE but said being an announcer for Vince McMahon was too much at times. He said: “You have to listen to your (announcing) partner, the executive producer and the company owner while trying to follow the talent in the ring and tell a story. I only have two ears, not six. … If you have thick skin and want to be a WWE announcer, you’ll do good. If not, you’ll flop quick. Vince doesn’t mean anything personally. He’s just very aggressive when it comes to the announcing because he’s very well aware of how important it is. It’s the last line of communication to the audience to sell the product.” He also talked about having no regrets when he decided to retire from the ring: “A lot of times I get people who say I left (the ring) way too soon. I was just not going to be one of those guys who risk their future health. I want to be able to throw a baseball with my son with some velocity or without having to use a cane. Once in a while, my son will ask me, ‘Dad, can you choke a guy out or use a suplex on him?’ I tell him, ‘I’ve got a bunch of DVDs you can watch that stuff on.’ ” (credit: The Wrestling Globe Newsletter)
- The WWE.com Industry News section has been removed because it had no impact on traffic, which was the initial purpose of creating it. It seems when fans want proper news they still go to sites like this.
- Jim Ross is back with another JRSBARBQ.com blog post. Here are the wrestling highlights:
On Nigel:
“Congrats to WWE for signing Nigel McGuinness who has been wrestling for Ring of Honor which is a helluva group of guys who obviously love the wrestling biz. McGuinness is a sound, in ring hand who can talk and will hopefully realize his dreams at the next level.”
On Drew McIntyre:
“Keep an eye on Drew McIntyre on Friday Night Smackdown this week and in upcoming weeks. McIntyre has potential and he will hopefully reach his potential and eventually more into main event status. McIntyre is from Scotland and has an athletic look.”

Mcintyre is a good guy….i have met him a few times here in scotland. hopefully a mid-card push and the a few titles….perhaps a world title
Yeah the guy works real hard, I’m glad he’s back on the main roster after a brief stint a few years ago.
That’s true about “industry news”. Anyone who cares about that stuff is a mark and anything they print we already know. Not to mention all the stuff they leave out. Why would I read that? It’s a waist of my time.
Another ROH wrestler comes to WWE. At this rate ROH wouldn’t have a roster of top talent.
