Steve Austin Wants Ric Flair To Induct Him In To Hall of Fame

To clarify yesterday’s report, WWE.com posting that Steve Austin was to be inducted in to the Hall of Fame was correct, they just had to take it down because it wasn’t supposed to be announced yet. They may do so tonight on Raw.

However there is some slight heat backstage surrounding a request from Austin to have Ric Flair induct him in to the Hall of Fame, who of course no longer works for the company. There’s no bad blood as such, but WWE would prefer somebody under contract, such as Jim Ross who has always been tipped for the role.

Austin has become very close to Flair over recent years and was the person who originally suggested Ric Flair’s retirement Angle, although it played out differently to Austin’s initial plan. At the time there was heat on both Austin and Flair because they wanted it to go one way and Vince decided on taking it another. It obviously all worked out fine, but the same “creative head butting” seems to be coming back to haunt them.

Unless something else has happened, I don’t see them preventing Austin’s induction because of his request to have Flair. As I say it was just an internal error between the WWE.com website staff. But it will be interesting to see if they go for Flair or Jim Ross.

  1. I’m so glad Stone Cold is going to be inducted in he hall of fame. He really deserves it no doubt, but the question is who is going to induct him. Ric Flair or Jim Ross?
