Sports Illustrated Rips WWE, Orton On UK Ad, Flair News, AJ Off TNA Tour
- Thanks to Matt Vratarich:
In regards to Shaq’s recent appearance as guest host on Raw, Sports Illustrated wrote the following. “Apparently the WWE is so desperate for attention these days that it has turned its signature show ”Monday Night Raw” into a Saturday Night Live imitation with celebrity guest hosts every week. This week Shaquille O’Neal was the host and he looked as comfortable in the ring as he did on the court.”
It seems the sarcasm never ends from the stuck up sports community.
- WWE champion Randy Orton will be featured on and upcoming TV commercial for HMV in the UK, according to Marketing Magazine. HMV is a huge chain, so it will be some nice exposure for WWE.
- Wrestling legend Ric Flair is set to become the official face of the Carolina lottery. It seems his non wrestling payoffs are still coming in strong.
- AJ Styles is off the next overseas tour because his baby is due at the same time, and he’s dealing with some nagging injuries.

Orton is already being used in print ads for HMV too. I can’t remember what magazine I saw it in, but it was one of those “My Inspiration” ads with a few lines from his entrance theme. Very random.
The sports community however are finally reffering to the issues in wrestling that are actually valid I think you should be positive tha progress is being shown by them; finally taking notice of it within it’s own context rather than MMA’s.
Its not just the sports community… everyone mocks wrestling because all the wrestling TV shows (which to most people is wrestling) are pretty much unwatchable at this point. No one ever made fun of NWA in the 80s for example…
