Shelton Benjamin Puts It In A Nutshell, New Taz Q&A, Tonight’s Raw

- Shelton Benjamin recently explained to Cincinnati.com what it means to be a pro wrestler in a great quote we all should take notice of:

“To me, pro wrestlers are the toughest athletes, period. And I say this very proudly, and I say this because unlike any other sport or entertainment profession, we don’t have an off-season. If you’re in sports, you have an off-season. If you’re in television, you have a certain number of weeks where you shoot your show and then you’re off to another project or whatever. For us, there is no break in the action. Secondly, we are the only people that I’m aware of that go on no matter what. There are tons of times – people don’t even recognize it – that we get hurt in the ring, but we’re such professionals and most of us have such pride in what we do that even when we’re hurt, we still go on. I’m not saying or suggesting anyone do that, but that’s what it means to be a pro wrestler. It’s like the mail: Rain, sleet or snow, the show must go on.”

Good or bad, he has it in a nutshell.

- Taz once again updated his official Facebook page with new Q&A’s; here are the highlights.

On Not Liking Byte This:
“We actual liked doing Byte This and I feel that by us not coming across as to two WWE Mr Microphones made us REAL!! That usually equals entertaining. And no management never said a word to us….they always seemed appreciative that we were doing the show.”

On Kurt Angle Not Getting Respect:
“When?? Serious?? I think Kurt has nothing but respect from his peers and I would strongly assume from you the fans NOW! How the heck does someone not respect this guy!?! Besides reaching to pinnacle in the grueling world of amateur wrestling Angle is a multi time World Champion on every level in the Pro Wrestling industry….so in my book Kurt Angle is in a class by himself!”

On MMA:
“Yes I did consider MMA as a career during my ECW days…but i felt that I would have much more longevity in the Wrestling business. No I do not see MMA as a threat to the wrestling business. Completely different animal with a different fanbase….now if you said will MMA effect the Boxing business I would say YES…MMA is KILLING the Boxing business. As far as comparing the physical toll, full time Wrestlers in TNA & WWE are almost consistantly humping the road and getting banged up as oppsed to MMA guys who fight once every couple of months…training doesnt count in my book.”

On Cole On Raw:
“Well I think Cole’s doing a fine job on Raw. Cole is one of my better friends in and out of the industriy and I really miss working with him! And folks I can promise you this….you might dislike Cole’s on air work or enjoy Cole’s work but I can tell you that I dare you to find anyone whom preps as much as Cole! His work ethic and dedication cannot get any better!! He was like that when we did Heat from WWE Restaurant, he was like that in the WWE Studios for any post production work and throughout our time together on Smackdown Cole was non stop show prepping…always prepared!!”

- The following matches will be on Raw tonight:

WWE United States champion MVP vs. Matt Hardy.
Divas Battle Royal for a title shot against Divas champion Maryse.
