Shawn Stasiak Determined: Documentary DVD Review

Shawn Stasiak. Great body, solid in the ring and a second generation star. It makes you wonder why WWE never gave him a push and why he has never been back.
It might be that they do not understand a man like Stasiak. As this documentary “Determined” reveals, Shawn is a deeply spiritual being, with non conformist views and non wrestling aspirations. In the closed minded “herd mentality” of the WWE lockerroom, much like the high school clique system, you can probably see why he might not have fit in.
This DVD is not for every wrestling fan, as wrestling itself is only a secondary theme. Instead it aims to get inside the head of the “man” Shawn Stasiak, exploring his philosophical ideas and determination to succeed. Using his tough workout regime as a foundation, Stasiak demonstrates how he uses this drive in all aspects of his life; from working hard to become a chiropractor, to dealing with the death of his parents, and how you can to. A very inspirational film that may help you asses your own goals and outlook on life. And you can pick up some good workout tips along the way!
When we discuss new age views in wrestling, there is one guy that comes to mind. Rod Van Dam, and open marijuana advocate, as well as a radio show host that talks about some of the topics covered on this DVD. It’s fitting then that he is in the documentary discussing the process of channeling positive energy and law of attraction to better your life and way of thinking. You’ll come away refreshed and ready for anything.
However if none of this initially interests you, don’t fret, there is still plenty of wrestling to be had. Like any shoot interview Stasiak discusses his career beginnings and important aspects thereafter. He also goes on a journey visiting old hands that had worked with his father, former WWWF Champion Stan Stasiak. We meet Skandar Akbar, “Cowboy” Johnny Mantell and Kevin Von Erich.

What makes this set stand out even further from a lot of independent wrestling related DVDs, is that there actually is a lot of footage, including match highlights, road trips and never before released home video footage of Stan “The Man” Stasiak from when he was WWWF champion 1973. Clocking in at over 3 hours, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth in terms of length.
Like the other Howard Feintuch DVD on Marty Jannetty, you’ll come away with a whole new perspective on the wrestler in question. So if you think Stasiak’s claim on this earth was to be the “Meat” character, then pick up this DVD and correct yourself.

Oh my god! I forgot about “meat” that was so terrible! All I could think of was “gay porn actor”
I’ll pick up the the DVD this article has made me curious if nothing elce. Yes, that was a gay reference, LOL.
Planet Stasiak for life. Really wish he would of made it in WWE. Was one of the more interesting WCW Invasion mid-card guys, but after the storyline was over pretty much everyone was let go.
