Sandman Has Surgery, Ken Kennedy Wins Gold, Lou Albano In Home, JR

- From National Wrestling Superstars:

At 8:29 this morning, National Wrestling Superstars management received the following text from Sandman and his agent regarding his appearance scheduled for this Saturday, October 10th at the Manville VFW Hall, 600 Washington Avenue in Manville (sent exactly as downloaded from texts)

“Was hoping to make it but I am in the hospital having my knee scoped and won’t make it text you when I get out”.

- Ken Kennedy, now Mr Anderson got the World Title for European promotion Nu Wrestling Evolution in Malta earlier this month. He defeated Chuck Palumbo & Tiny Iron in a three way match.

Anderson will also be on the Hulkamania tour.

- It’s a sad day, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Lou Albano, 76, is now being cared for in a home. You never like to report things like this.

- Jim Ross is back with another JRSBARBQ.com blog; here are the wrestling highlights:

On Steve Austin:
“Got an email from old pal Steve Austin late last night. He’s in the UK promoting his next film “Damage” which will be released imminently on DVD. I’ve seen the trailer and liked what I saw and plan on supporting Steve by purchasing this action packed, fight filled film when it becomes available. Many Austin fans waited some 13 hours to be a part of a signing there this week. Steve also detailed seeing his first soccer game in person and he told me that he had a blast and had a better understanding and appreciation for the game.”

On Jack Swagger:
“I saw Swagger wrestle at OU and suggested that he be offered a try out with WWE and he got it and took the opportunity from there.”

On Ric Flair:
“75K is the asking price for Ric Flair’s coveted NWA World Title Belt? Wow…good luck on getting that number to the party selling the treasure. This is not a positive development in the big picture, at least in my humble opinion, and it quite frankly makes me sad. But it is also none of my business.”

On Owen Hart:
“I don’t know when Owen Hart will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame but he is deserving in my eyes.”

  1. Owen Hart in the HOF is long overdue. Didn’t Eddie get inducted a year after his passing? Also heard that JR’s contract is expiring really soon. Any word if he’ll resign, or if not, leave the company?

  2. I think when the HOF first resurfaced there was still tension between Bret and WWE – and Bret really has to be the one to induct Owen. However, theyve supposedly been on good terms since ‘05, with the release of Bret’s long-awaited DVD. Theres no real reason since then that hes not been inducted in my eyes. I know after Eddie was inducted JR said he heard they were not going to make a habit of filling the HOF with the deceased each year, in an attempt to keep the mood high at the event. Afterall, its a celebration of wrestling, not a funeral.

If recent rumours are true to Bret maybe doing a Raw as GM, then I could see that having some sway for Owen in the 2010 HOF.

  3. Oh, and JR’s going nowhere – not for as long he is able and has the Missus’ blessing. I think he will begin to blog more about busy his life outside of WWE, including running his restaurant and possibly expanding. This would almost certainly make its way back to his bosses and be used for negotiating a little more on his terms. He doesn’t NEED the WWE, and if they realize that to its full extent, they’d offer him what he wants. Hes a smart guy.

  4. its owen hart’s wife thats stop him being in the hall of fame not bret or wwe

  5. IT IS REALLY SAD TO HERE ABOUT THE CAPTAIN IS IN A HOME.THIS MAN GAVE HIS HEART AND SOUL FOR THIS SPORT NOT TO GET RECOGNITION OR EVEN BEING GIVEN A CHANCE TO BE GM BEFORE HE GOT SICK . KEEPING ACTIVE MIGHT HAVE HELPED HIM STAY WELL.EVEN THOUGH HE IS A HALL OF FAMER, DON’T THINK THAT THAT JACKASS VINCE WILL TRY TO TURN A BUCK ON A DVD IF HE PASSED.
LOU FROM ME TO YOU BROTHER I LOVE YOU AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR TEACHINGS AND ADVICE. YOU WILL BE IN ME PRAYERS AND FOREVER IN MY HEART. LOVE YOU BROTHER.

  6. Remember the Captain Lou and George “The Animal” Steele skits. Those were classic!!! Some of the funniest and best stuff I ever seen in wwe. I hope you get better Lou. You are one of the greats!
