Ricky Ortiz Released, Jericho Tweets, Trish To Guest Host? More JR
- After a hit and miss run on ECW and miss run on Smackdown, WWE have decided to release Ricky Ortiz.
WWE.com reads, “WWE has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Ricky Ortiz as of today, Aug. 8, 2009. We wish Ricky the best in all future endeavors.”
It is simply a case of a character that didn’t work, and creative weren’t willing to put anymore time in.
- Chris Jericho posted the following on his Twitter page: “Today is the ten year anniversary of my debut appearance in the WWE. I wonder how many people that were on the roster then are still here?” and “Taker triple h hbk kane funaki regal show hardys edge Christian henry that’s all I got…”
- WWE have reached out to former WWE Diva Trish Stratus about guest hosting a future episode of Raw. Now word on if she has accepted, but she has been very vocal about WWE recently, and also snubbed the Diva’s Battle Royal at Wrestlemania.
- Jim Ross is back with another JRSBARBQ.com blog, here are some wrestling tid bits:
On Drew McIntyre:
“Oh my gosh….the Drew McIntyre entrance video has been “leaked” to the internet. There goes that beach front condo I had my eye on. Dammit!”
“C.M. (I have no clue as to what the initials mean this week) Punk is really evolving. Nice, slow, long lasting character development. Punk, Jericho, Ziggler and Morrison are really raising their game which means they could be be appearing on other ‘rasslin shows in the future. Punk has capitalized on his opportunities.”
On Mike Knox:
“Mike “Fort” Knox has “something” but it will be up to Knox to unleash the beast within and become something special and not just another athletic, big man. I still think Knox would be well served to watch some “vintage” (Thanks, Cole) Bruiser Brody tapes to observe Brody’s timing and pacing of his brawls/matches. Knox had a nice week of WWE TV considering that he had been dormant for too long.”
On Wrestling DVDs:
“Just for my money and one guy’s opinion, the best wrestling DVD’s are of the documentary variety and not just match compilations. ”
On Fake Tan:
“Here’s a suggestion to many of the wrestlers I saw on TV this week, even out the faux tan. No one needs to look like a Sunkist product.”

First off, does anyone remember a few years back when HHH had a fake tan at Wrestlemania and was straight up orange?
Also, I agree with J.R. I LOVE the documentary dvds over the matches. HBK and Ric Flair were some of the best ever, including Monday Night War and ECW. AWESOME dvds! Period!
I don’t see why they had to put Ortiz in a 15 second squash match right before they cut him loose. This man is a human being. If creative just decides they can’t do anything because they’re terrible writers is one thing. They didn’t have to kick him in the nuts on the way out. That’s horseshit if you ask me.
saw that coming with ortiz, crowd never really got into him and tbh his character was just irritating but seems as if wwe are getting rid of new wrestlers quicker than they are put on main roster
seems like every week wwe is gettin rid of someone.
