Reader Gives Thoughts On Randy Orton Storyline
Reader Shawn Crouch sent in his thoughts regarding the Randy Orton storyline. If you have any opinions to add, comment below, or if you’d like to write a separate column email typesthetalk@gmail.com, we are still hiring:
Is it just me or does the WWE writing staff think we’ve forgotten about the power struggle that Stephanie and Shane McMahon had over who was to control RAW a few months ago? Yet now, ever since Randy Orton ‘punted’ Vince, it’s almost like that never happened, and that Steph and Shane are now once again loving brother and sister… To me that seems odd to have that original ‘power struggle’ storyline just be shoved aside and not addressed. It also seems strange to me that there was a big build-up about Stephanie being afraid of her father returning to RAW and taking back control of the flagship show, just to be eliminated on the same night he returned (if Vince was to be ‘injured’ again, why make all the hype about Step’s’ fear of losing control of RAW?). With those 2 glaring flaws in the otherwise tightly planned ‘Main Event’ plot, it made me think that secretly Randy Orton and Stephanie McMahon are working together!!!i Now, some of you may say “what about Orton going to punt Stephanie last week?”, well I think the writers covered that last night when Orton stated that “he wasn’t really going to punt her but was simply showing that he could do it IF he wanted to”. A nice cover in my opinion if indeed the story goes how I think it will. Think about it, Steph feared Vince would seize control of RAW, so is it not possible, she used Randy as a hired gun to eliminate Vince? Also, with that all but forgotten spat she had with Shane over control of RAW a few months back, it is my feeling that at NO WAY OUT, Shane will be put out of action by Orton. Shane coming out the victor would be ‘burying’ the main event heel for Wrestlemania, so we should assume that Orton will come out on top, more than likely with a ‘punt’ to Shane’s’ head. Look for this match to be when they reveal there alliance, as Steph COULD turn on Shane during the match That leads me to my prediction, that with Vince, and presumably Shane out of action, the control of RAW would be solely in the hands of Stephanie McMahon, with Orton being the assassin in both cases. This would result in the perfect opportunity for a storyline that saw Orton aligned with Stephanie, and with Orton winning the title at Wrestlmania (or so I am hoping because I am so so very sick of John Cena as champ), the Age Of Orton would return! With the GM of RAW on his side, he could have a lengthy run as a heel champion of RAW. My only problem with this plot, is that it would directly mirror the situation on SmackDown, where the Champion (Edge, who’s also a heel, and former partner of Orton ironically) is aligned the GM Vickie Guerrero, and I don’t know as if I’d like both shows having such similar main event storylines. Anyways, that is just a thought I had as to where this story may be headed. I don’t want it happen like this, because I’d rather see Orton become champion and reign as champ without help from the GM of RAW, but I believe that would do nicely as the ’swerve’ many people are hoping for.

I would love to see Orton be the ultimate heel he can be. What a great entertainer. I don’t really care if is aligned with Stephanie or not, as long as he wins at Wrestlemania and stays on Raw.
damn…….what a way to look at this storyline
most agreed
sounds good but i think it be shane who joins randy orton
iv been thinking the same thing as it makes alot of sense vince and shane both being tsken out leaving steph in charge of not only raw but the wwe and her being a major part of legacy as vickie gurerro is to edge makes alot of sense
I would love to see that storyline take place; since I’m such a huge Randy Orton fan anyway. He is the best heel and with Stephanie at his side—what a team!!!
How about Vince coming back and turning on Shane? Maybe another Shane-Vince battle at WrestleMania?
I think that Shane joining Legacy would work as well, and I strongly feel he has the right ‘look’ for Legacy (unlike Manu), so from a looks point of view he most definately fits… That and being the son of Vince keeps the generational theme of Legacy, but Steph fits that bill as well and I feel more signs point to her alligning with Orton. I also feel that a female being added to a stable would be a refreshing change from the standard all-male stables. Another element added to the ’swerve’
going back to higher power in the attitude days maybe we will see both vince and shane align with orton against steph. probably won’t happen but maybe a possibility
Everything sounds right about that angle and would be an interesting twist to the Raw brand. It would be THE storyline in WWE, of course now that the HBK-JBL situation looks to be coming to a head. His comments about it mirroring Edge and Vickie’s relationship/story on Smackdown is true but that looks like it also will change dramatically as the Big Show seems to be driving a wedge between them and could be the dark horse for the title or at least a foil for Edge to get his attention off the world title when he does lose it to either Triple H or Jeff Hardy. The draft is also returning so we will probably see Triple H return to Raw regardless of if he’s the champ or not as it seems every year they just swap champions(see Cena/Batista). If that happens count on Cena being champ and going to Smackdown because Triple H’s ego can’t help but get in on that action with his old Evolution protege and his real life wife Stephanie. This would probably all happen just in time for Vince to come back and give his full support to Triple H.
Yea mr. balderson u hit it on the button…and everyone is making sense, im leaning more towards stephanie, and i hope they dissolve that edge and vickie shit, its soo wack.(and edge, the spear? what happen to the edgecutioner? the spear knocks people out? im disgusted with him) but yea i would love to see hhh move to raw, and him and orton get it in…i was watching youtube the other day, from there first fallout up until the rumble footage..there is nothing like a hhh vs orton match…i never get tired of it
How about the whole lame ass “Legacy” angle ends and save me some misery. Worthless is a more fitting name to the group. Orton is actually a Third Generation Superstar, so kick him out of the group. Shane and Steph are both equally Second Generation “Superstars”, so they should both be in the group.
Cena’s father is a wrestling manager, might as well lump him ion as a second generation superstar. Oh and Goldust too since he is equally a second generation superstar as his brother.
How about we throw Jessy (You know, teams up with Festus)in the too as he is a second Generation superstar as well. (Last name is actually Gordy, that name ring a bell?)
Why not make this a big boring ass super group.
WWE now is the best sleeping pill available.
Kudos to the wwe, I saw Raw last week, and HHH coming out to save steph, well let’s say it just looks like the WWE has no order. That segment had me very astonished. Husband HHH comes to save Wife Steph.
Another thing John Cena is ass. I think I speak for most people when I say he is not entertaining, he is a regular guy. If the WWE really ran out of ideas well let me drop one, and its coming from the fans…. we need john cena who don’t give a shit and raps etc. But he still has to maintain a winning record. Batista is boring the shit out of me too. Help him.
I think that it would be GREAT if Triple H got a taste of his medicine, and got betrayed by Stephanie, and that if he woul turn into a heel, acting like Randy Orton(by attacking people, etc),and really show how a betrayal like that could change anybody for the worst
I THINK THAT THE STORY LINE WITH ORTON IS BEYOND STUPID. HIS CLAIMS OF HAVING IED – PLEASE. HE’S BEEN AN A** FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE WRITERS OF RAW SHOW A LACK OF IMAGINATION. THE SAME STORY LINES OVER AND OVER AGAIN – WITH A FEW TWIST TO TRY TO MAKE IT LOOK NEW AND ORIGINAL. THEY REALLY THINK THE FANS ARE STUPID – I MEAN REALLY STUPID. IF YOU ARE TRULY A PERSON WITH IED, THEN YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS IN WRESTLING – LAWYERS BE DAMN.
YOU COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO SOMEONE. THEN WHAT VINCE AND COMPANY IS GOING TO DO – I KNOW, SAY OOPS AND SWEEP ORTON’S NONSENCE UNDER RUG. LEGACY MY ASS – THEY ARE AN EMBRASSMENT TO THEIR FATHERS. YOU CAN BE A GREAT WRESTLER WITH OUT BEING AN ASSHOLE. AND THAT WHAT THE WWE HAS BECOME AN EMPLOYER FOR MISFITS AND ASSHOLES. AND PLEASE NOT ANOTHER ROUND OF THE HARDY BROTHERS BEING AT ODDS – COME ON,- THAT SHIP SAILED YEARS AGO. PLEASE, GET NEW WRITERS!!!!!!
I think you are looking at it wrong, that fact you hate Orton for the IED thing is what makes it effective. He is a heel.
I think it would have been much better if Batista and Triple H became friends with Randy Orton and joined Legacy. With the both of them part of Team Legacy, Legacy will not only become more than the elite team, but whenever it comes to any match that involves tag team, ladder climb to a champion belt, elimination, or the last man standing, nobody will stand a chance of winning against Team Legacy. They can also be declared WWE’s most dangerous wrestling group.
