Old School Wrestler Karl Von Hess Passes Away

“KARL VON HESS (REAL NAME FRANK FAKETY) PASSED AWAY OF ALZHEIMERS EARLY MORNING HOURS OF 8/12 AT THE AGE OF 90. HAS BEEN LIVING WITH HIS SON & DAUGHTER IN LAW (JOHNNY & PAM) SINCE THE DEATH OF HIS WIFE 11/15/2005 LIVED IN MAYS LANDING NJ & WAS THE 1ST POST WWII WRESTLER TO USE THE GERMAN HEEL GIMMICK. MOSTLY TEAMED WITH KURT VON HESS & ALSO KARL VON SHOTZ.”

WHO???!!! Never heard of him
Karl was my uncle and he wrestled back in the 50’s and 60’s. He wrestled a lot at Madison Square Garden and in Japan. His gimmick was being the German Nazi Heel. In real life he was a great person, husband, and father. We will miss him. He loved being a wrestler and cherished this life till Alzheimers took him away from us.
Rest in Peace Uncle Karl.
Thanks for leaving a comment Karen, our thoughts are with your family. Without men like Karl, there’d never be a wrestling business today. So people who don’t remember him (maybe because you weren’t alive then), just remember this guy traveled the road, building the sport that we love today!

I feel real bad to hear that Karl died,when I took my first trip to the USA to visit my “Pen Pal” Mike Kuhn and Ed Gordorn, I was invieted to Karl`s “House” and and from this moment on I had a new frind in the USA,I remember the next visit .I bring him a “Pickelhaube-old Helmet” and found out that it was to small for his head..we had a lot of fun that day ..he liked it anyway.
To bad that I lost contact to Him and his Family,but I will never forget the good times we had,like the Day John took me to a Slot Car Race, or the ride in his Cadilac….
