Off Air News From Raw: Huge International Star Gets Dark Match

- Indy promotion PCW were handing out flyers before the show plugging a Ric Flair appearance of all things.

- Loads of CM Punk chants throughout the night, but the Chicago Cubs were booed when they were introduced to the live crowd. (US fans please fill me in, it’s Chicago right?).

- The main off air news coming out of Raw was that international star Takeshi Morishima had a dark match cleared by the NOAH promotion in Japan and beat Charlie Haas. He was represented by a NOAH employee and Harley Race backstage. Luckily he didn’t forget his gear like on the UK NOAH show and certainly looked the part, despite not carrying his GHC title for obvious reasons. No word on if he impressed or not.

Morishima got his first proper US exposure with ROH and is a former ROH champion. WWE have apparently been interested in him for a while now, in order to have a strong Japanese wrestler that brings in more international viewers.

- In the second dark match development wrestler Jake Hager lost to William Regal.

- Although it is not off air news, Carlito’s younger brother made his debut on the show as Primo Colon in a backstage segment with GM Mike Adamle.

- When the Raw broadcast went off air JBL came out and challenged the heavyweight champion CM Punk to a match. CM Punk won to please his home town Chicago fans and went on to say that he actually made his Chicago WWE debut dressed as a Gangster for John Cena’s Wrestlemania 22 entrance and now two years later, he has the title.
