More PPV Branding, Stars Frustrated With Young Talent, Orton Rips Eugene

- WWE are going all out with the new PPV branding ideas. Other concepts they are toying with include PPVs with just street fight main events. PPVs with just TLC main events, and a new King of The Ring tournament.

- Both Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels have recently been outspoken backstage about not having anyone who is over to work with, and that the young talent are not at their level. It is unsure if they were were criticizing the young wrestlers themselves or the creative team, but as they say, you need stars to create stars, so maybe they should help the young talent along instead of making them job?

This comes days after Rey Mysterio pouted and got several victories over Dolph Ziggler, when Ziggler could have been given a huge boost with a win over Rey.

- In an interview with the UK Sun Newspaper Randy Orton revealed that he was the one who helped get Eugene his job back and was upset when he turned up overweight:

“He came back two weeks ago and came in a little heavy from where [management] wanted him to come in. Nick is a good friend of mine. I pulled some strings to get his job back and he comes back all overweight. So all in all, I am a little upset with right now with him.”

Orton has been accused of playing the political game recently, so one has to wonder if he wasn’t actually the one that also got Eugene fired. It wouldn’t be the first time wrestlers have been all pally and then put the boot in for good.

  1. Why Does Orton feel the need to trash people after they’re fired? It’s just sucks to lose a job (even after one day) and have some bully kick you when your down. He seems like a asswipe and his slow talking act is hard to watch. Thank god for TiVo I can fast foward his long, drawn out promos.
I love a good heel… As an act! He seems to have taken it to a whole new level. I hope he finds himself in trouble needing a friend. I don’t wish injury on him. I just hope he gets fired! So everyone can shit talk HIM.

  2. Gimmick PPV’s???? That’s what we (the “WWE Universe”) is subjected to now? Heck, why you’re at it why not have a PPV where all the matches are a bra and panty match? Or one where every PPV is a donkey on a pole match? Sounds stupid, right? So does this idea. Typically, gimmicks are used to mask a glaring weakness. In this case, its the nature of repetitive matches. Because they don’t put over younger talent on Raw (more on that in a second) they are forced to have a main event carousel of Orton, Cena and Triple H. And now they have various gimmicks to mask all the mediocrity.
Jericho and Michaels are complaining about the lack of younger talent being established. But, at SS, Jericho and Show didn’t want to drop the belts to Cryme Tyme (which they should’ve done) and in another article, I read that Michaels and Triple H didn’t want any younger talent joining their faltering faction.
Why complain about something when you (being in the position to actually make a difference) won’t do anything. If you have a problem with the lack of younger talent being stars, PUT LEGACY OVER, RECRUIT A COUPLE OF YOUNGER GUYS INTO YOUR FACTION, and PUT OVER THE YOUNGER TALENT. As I’ve said before, wins mean nothing to the established superstars anymore. So, why not give your younger guys the chance to be put over.
How else are you going to build the younger talent? No names beating no names?
The established guys in WWE are all egotistical jerks, for lack of a better word (trying to keep this comment as PG as possible, folks) Even worst, you’re sending out the message the same message that WCW sent before they’re eventual implosion: if you’re unestablished, then you don’t have a shot.
Within a year, all of WCW’s young talent (the Jericho’s and the Beniots and the Malenko’s) jumped ship from WCW to WWE where (at that time) they was sure to get a chance to shine.
Coincidentally, WWE is finding themselves in that same situation on Raw. And soon, TNA will be reaping the benefits.
