Full Report:
- Still reigning WWE champion, Randy Orton talks down WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair for his involvement following the WWE Championship Match the night before. Not one to take a verbal attack lying down, the “Nature Boy” himself emerged and reminded The Legend Killer that he didn’t actually beat Batista, and in fact, lost by disqualification, and thus managed to hold onto the WWE Title. Further enraging Orton, Flair revealed that he had just spoken with Raw General Manager Vickie Guerrero, and that she had decreed that “The Viper” would be defending his title against Batista once again at Extreme Rules, but in a Steel Cage Match to ensure a definitive outcome.
Incensed at the news Flair bore, Orton attacked the WWE Legend and called down Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase to assist in the assault. But before the rest of Legacy could make it to the ring, they were intercepted by Batista. As the multi-generational Superstars began to get the upper hand on ‘Naitch and The Animal, John Cena emerged from the locker room area and helped clear the ring of the devious Legacy members.
- John Cena cuts a promo backstage, admitting he lost a step but is back in the game. Vickie Guerrero then makes the main event of Legacy vs John Cena and Batista.
- Maryse joins Cole and Lawler at the announce table.
- Kelly Kelly won a Divas battle royal against Mickie James, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes and Jillian to earn a shot at Maryse. The match ended when Mickie James was sprayed by something by Maryse allowing Kelly to get the victory.
- Recap of the Miz/Santina skit on the PPV.
- Santino Marella defeated Chavo:
Spilling over from Santino Marella’s recent insults directed at Vickie Guerrero and her nephew, Chavo’s attack on the Italian Superstar at Judgment Day, the two competitors squared off in the ring on Raw. Though the star of “Santino’s Casa” was victorious, he received distressing news after the match: Chavo revealed that later in the evening, Santino’s sister, “Santina” would be defending her Miss WrestleMania title against the Raw General Manager herself, Vickie Guerrero.
- Mr Kennedy return video package.
- Backstage Maryse is talking in French and Miz doesn’t know what she’s saying, but says it is hot! She doesn’t respond. Miz then says that Maryse might be a Diva, but the Miz is 4-0 against John Cena and that fans will want to watch what he does tonight.
- Josh Mathews interviews Matt Hardy and insinuates that Matt has a US title shot tonight as a reward for taking out Vickie’s husband’s opponent Jeff. Matt is clearly in cahoots because he revealed Vickie wiped his loss against Kofi off the record books.
- Also backstage Randy Orton bursts in to Vickie’s office and says that she needs to consult him before putting him in a match. He says she better stay on his good side.
- Primo and Carlito defeated The Kendrick and Goldust:
Attempting to make good on his promise the week before to find himself “The” tag team partner, The Brian Kendrick went to the ring with Goldust in tow, ready to compete against Unified WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo in a non-title match. Throughout the match, Kendrick berated The Bizarre One, and his criticisms only intensified after being pinned by Primo. Following the match, the cocky Superstar made moves to take out his frustrations on his partner, but was stopped by Hornswoggle, who emerged from under the ring. Returning the favor to Goldust, who protected the diminutive Superstar from Big Show on “WWE Superstars,” ‘Swoggle helped his new friend attack Kendrick, chasing him from the ring.
- Masquerading as his rival, The Miz addressed the WWE Universe to mock and once again call out John Cena. After the former World Heavyweight Champion failed to come out following the self-proclaimed “chick magnet’s” rap belittling him, The Miz claimed another spurious victory over Cena. The arrogant Superstar’s claims didn’t go unchallenged, however, as he was joined in the ring by WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler. The Raw announcer pointed out the ridiculousness of Miz’s claim to have a 5-0 record against Cena when the two have never fought a match to completion.
The two were then interrupted by Big Show, who had his own bone to pick with John Cena. Though the targeted Superstar claimed earlier that he was done with The World’s Largest Athlete, Big Show revealed that the two would be colliding once again at Extreme Rules, in a match that would appear to give the 7-footer a distinct advantage: A Submission Match. When The Miz responded that Cena would simply beat Big Show again, the massive Superstar lunged for the self-asserted “future World Champion,” but the former reality star was too quick, shoving “The King” at The World’s Largest Athlete and escaping up the ramp. Furious, Big Show latched his punishing submission maneuver on Lawler before leaving the ring.
- Jim Ross replaces Lawler in the announcer’s seat.
- MVP defeats Matt Hardy:
As Matt Hardy explained earlier in the evening, Raw General Manager Vickie Guerrero not only expunged his loss to Kofi Kingston from the records, but also gave the bitter Superstar something he had been clamoring for: A United States Title Match against MVP. Though Hardy denied it, it’s possible that Vickie’s actions were done to repay the Superstar for his attack on Jeff Hardy the night before during his World Heavyweight Title Match against the Raw GM’s husband, Edge. Though he had claimed in the past to have beaten MVP more than anyone, Hardy, with his broken hand, was unable to defeat The Ballin’ Superstar, who retained the U.S. Title. The match ends with a Playmaker after he stomps on Hardy’s cast.
- Backstage Flair and Batista share a moment, and Vickie tries to call off her match, until she is reminded of Santina’s comments.
- Vickie Guerrero defeated Santina (Miss Wrestlemania match):
Having received some impromptu wrestling training from her nephew Chavo, Raw General Manager Vickie Guerrero made her way to the ring to compete against Santina Marella for the title of Miss WrestleMania in her very first match. Before the match could even begin, Chavo announced that the title would be contested with no disqualifications and proceeded to attack Santina once the contest started. Things went from bad to worse for the first-ever Miss WrestleMania as William Regal emerged next, attacking the Italian Diva, and giving Vickie the opening she needed to pin her opponent and win the match, becoming the new Miss WrestleMania in the process.
- Batista and John Cena defeated Legacy:
As the battle raged on, Big Show emerged, drawing his Extreme Rules opponent, John Cena from the ring. With his partner gone, The Animal was left alone to compete against the Superstar he’ll face in a Steel Cage at Extreme Rules, as well as Orton’s minions.
Sorely outnumbered, Batista was the beneficiary of some well-timed assistance from WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. The two had suffered through a minor disagreement earlier in the evening after the “Nature Boy” revealed his plans to call out “The Viper” on the next Raw, but their bond proved to be stronger than any petty squabbles, as ‘Naitch contributed to the match’s confusion, giving Batista a chance to capitalize, spearing Orton for the win.
Conclusion:
Good Raw, there’s nothing more heelish than having Vickie as miss Wrestlemania, I love it! Once again the Miz impressed. If the haters can’t see his upside yet, then just wait. I just hope he doesn’t get squashed by Cena in the end.
We were probably expecting a surprise new star (maybe Low Ki) to be Kendrick’s partner, not Goldust, but it helps give Hornswoggle a direction.
Matt Hardy continues to play the “is he really hurt, or is he a coward?” heel act, aligning himself somewhat with Vickie. No problems there. MVP seems to have lost some of that initial star power when he came to Raw, but all he needs is a successful angle.
The legacy thing is what it is. I’m just happy to see the Naitch!

This RAW was ruined once John Cena came out to help Batista and Flair…They should of had it Triple H, actually someone connected to this whole storyline. John Cena really??? Superhero saves the day again.
I am also not liking this day after a PPV and BAM! We get main event match for the next PPV in 3 weeks. It use to be where it would be a few weeks after a PPV before htey started booking the next main event. Now it’s like…Ok Batista vs Orton, again…3 weeks away, I guess since this rivalry has already happened I will just stop watching RAW until after Extreme Rules because obviously nothing is going to change from now to then.
Also, when was the last time a title change happened on either RAW or Smackdown? Seems like titles only change now at PPVs…I remember in the day when the Champion would sometimes lose on RAW or at least some titles would be changing hands during the week. Now its just………Pay $40.00 and you MIGHT see a title change.
The announcers last night were absolutely terrible. First Cole and his stupid screw ups with not getting names right, then Lawyler cementing himself as the biggest Cena ass kisser in the arena. I was disappointed with Raw. The Cena run-in was so pointless and retarded I wanted to destroy my TV set. Not to mention I could tell the arena was mostly full of kids by the way it sounded by all the “Cena” chants. And I did not want Orton to defend his title against the muscle head Batista again. Vince, has lost it with his creative control and I now am cherishing the day he leaves the company, I am tired of seeing the same sh## week after week with HHH, Batista and Legacy. At least throw a surprise at the audience every once in a while with someone betraying or turning heel. I haven’t said this for a long time, but Raw was very sucky last night.
finally people are starting to see things the way i have been for the past 2 years… raw is bullshit!!!! the entire company is past their prime, its time for MAJOR changes… OMFG, i wish i had a job in creative, i know i can do a better job than the brain dead ppl i’m sure they’re paying a nice salary to just to come up with the same exact boring, predictable and repetative horse shit we see week after week. listen guys, it’s simple to become a wwe superstar.. all u gotta do is spray tan yourself to fag status, remember the same act every week, and help put viewers to sleep with your non-entertaining bullshit…. srry, lifelong fan here… i get frusterated with todays product..
By the sounds of it. Kelly kelly is going to be the New Divas champion. God i hope not….
Maryse is a good diva champion and giving it to kelly is just going to be a step down for the diva”s division.
Goldust?? seriously. Who are you. in my opinion the hall of famers who keep returning should just DIE!!!
I agree with Codebreaker 100%….I have a feeling because of this stupid PG era crap that they don’t do heel turns or anything like that like htey use to back in the day…I remember when I couldn’t wait for Raw to start and being a huge fan of a wrestler going into the night, then he turning heel and then I would hate him.
I really can’t stand the direction Vince is taking the WWE. I honestly believe the next new, fresh and exciting storyline will be the one he steps down and Shane takes over. And I hope to God Shane can save the ship. Go back to the good ol days of the WWF.
Vince has also dug his ego soooo far into all the movie business that he is afraid of turning people heel week in and week out. He has to have all his movie stars face to sell their overrated production crap. Heres a news flash Vince, noone is going to go watch your movies wether they star a babyface or heel. Either way the movie is crap.
Also, the Hollywood creative team must GO. Same crap week in and week out, nothing new. Im tired of Batista, Cena and Triple H. same rivalries for the past 5 years. Wouldn’t be suprised if Triple H returns as the #30 entry at the Royal Rumble, hmm..
I have officially stopped watching Smackdown and RAW is the only thing I got left, and mostly because of Orton. RKO is the bloodline of this company now.
That is the one good thing about Raw these days, Randy Orton is finally getting the respect he deserves as the only good thing bout Raw’s min event players, especially now Jericho has gone over to Smackdown.
I do like Raw’s mid-card level though, I just wish they would try them out in the main event every once in awhile.
TNA have a good system of swtiching things around on the card so the show never really seems predictable. The WWE needs to watch out with this “thinking long term” kids initiative stuff since more and more adult fans who have stuck with the company will go over to TNA and they will see teams like the Motor City Machine Guns, who put the Colons to shame, and realise WWE really doesn’t have anymore to offer. It really does seem like I watch all the six hours of WWE programing out of habit and I am just waiting until thursday to see another Impact, where the champion isn’t always main event and different storylines get different amounts of air time to tell them rather than giving them a certain level of attention each week based on who is involved.
Orton and Jericho (and possibly Kendrick) to TNA, then I could give up watching WWE completely
Oh man if Orton ever left this company I would bail as well. He is all the WWE has left. I don’t know about anyone else but I am tired of Batista…The guy seems to only be in main events because of his physique…He has no mic skills and his promos suck balls. The WWE has potential with guys like Miz, Morrison, Kendrick and some other mid cards…These guys could be the stepping stone for bringing back the attitude to the WWE. Serously, these guys have so much potential if they are let go off of this stupid PG leash. However, if WWE stays PG and wont take risks then Kendrick, Miz, and Morrison will amount to nothing and their talent will be wasted.
I just want some change please.
