May 15, 2009, TNA Epics Recap

Tonight is the debut of TNA Epics over here in the UK, reading some reports today that the company is really happy with the overall product of the show and it’s going to be really interesting to see how the show works.

The Show Begins with Elix Skipper walking the Six Sides of Steel and then cuts to the Show Intro featuring a number of older talent including Raven, Ken Shamrock and Hulk Hogan.

Mick Foley welcomes us to the show and runs down the card for tonight’s show which will include a number of Six Sides of Steel matches and the show starts off with the memorable America’s Most Wanted vs Triple X match from the Turning Point 2004 PPV.

Extended Highlights of this absolute classic between the Best Two Tag Teams in TNA History is shown, with some audio edits for a number of big spots. Looking back on this match shows you how far TNA has come with both there graphical and show production and the overall camera work.

Foley recaps the match and talks about how even to this day TNA fans are still talking about the Hurricanrana from the Top of Six Sides of Steel, next up is LAX vs AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels from the 2006 Bound for Glory PPV.

Extended Highlights are shown from the Bound for Glory Epic, where Hernandez leaps off the top of the Six Sides of Steel and Helps LAX become World Tag Team Champions.

Foley recaps the match and puts over LAX especially Hernandez for taking the risk for his team and to help become World Tag Team Champions. Next up is Christian Cage vs Rhino in Six Sides of Steel Barbed Wire Cage Match from November’s 2007 iMPACT.

Extended Highlights from the Christian Cage vs Rhino match and Foley recaps the match including “The Gore through the Door”

Overall Show Thoughts: I’m disappointed with the show and was hoping TNA would not go down the route of throwing matches onto a show and sending it over here. Surely a better way to encourage new viewers would be to have one Main Event Match a week and using the rest of the time to view the viewers an idea of how they got to the point. For example have the AMW vs Triple X match as the show highlight but really put over the fact that both were dominate tag teams with a real history and hatred between them.

Thanks for Reading and Sorry for the lack of in depth match review.
