Kevin Nash Injury Update, Alex Shelly Hurt, New Wrestling Book

- Although TNA is suggesting that Kevin Nash got his infection from wrestling in Tokyo, the feeling is that he really got it from a recent tattoo needle that probably wasn’t as sterile as it should have been. He is still in hospital, but will make a recovery; however if it was left any longer he may have got blood poisoning and ultimately organ failure.

Despite feeling unwell, The Wrestling observer reports that he was planning to wrestle anyway, which shows he is still committed, despite what some may think.

- Speaking of injuries, which seem to be all the rage in TNA right now, Alex Shelly has been wrestling with a bad pectoral muscle and felt particularly strained after the PPV. Nothing has been officially diagnosed. There are also reports floating around that he has an injured neck also. Jeff Jarrett and Sting were also pretty banged up after the PPV.

Suicide, Hemme, Kong, Nash, Shelly, Jarrett, Sting…the list keeps getting bigger, which is unfortunate for the company. They don’t have WWE’s roster to fall back on.

- A new wrestling book, written by Former NWA President Howard Brody is set for release sometime in September. The blurb reads:

“Exposing wrestling’s inner workings and back-office deal making, this memoir is a hard-hitting firsthand look at the sport from Howard Brody, one of its most controversial promoters. Beginning with how he became involved with professional wrestling and produced his first television program, it then focuses on his time as president of the National Wrestling Alliance and reveals the truth behind the rumors surrounding his departure from the organization. Brody’s relationships with many of wrestling’s most powerful and creative figures—Vince and Linda McMahon, Eric Bischoff, Paul Heyman, Tod Gordon, Antonio Inoki, Hiro Matsuda, the Funks, Dusty Rhodes, Jim Cornette, Jimmy Hart, the Hart family, and Hulk Hogan—are discussed in detail, revealing many little-known details about the behind-the-scenes negotiations involved in booking and promoting shows. From dealing with building and talent managers to working with radio and television stations, Brody explains the nuances of booking promotions, discusses the nature of negotiating and selling wrestling to television networks and sponsors, and divulges fascinating details about many aspects of working in the wrestling business.”

Entitled “Swimming with Piranhas: Surviving the Politics of Professional Wrestling”, the book will be published by ECW Press, which has done many wrestling books in the past.
