Full Report:

- Melina & Eve def. Women’s Champion Michelle McCool & Layla:
After their encounter at Night of Champions, Michelle McCool and Melina clashed again in tag team action. This time, Melina earned some revenge when she dropped the champion with a quick-striking Primal Scream to get the pinfall.

- The Great Khali vs. Charlie Haas (No Contest):
Standing at 7-foot-3, The Great Khali dominated Charlie Haas. But before Khali could finish off his opponent, Khali’s nemesis, Kane, came into the arena and manhandled Khali’s translator, Ranjin Singh. It looked as if Kane was going to drag Singh out of the arena. However, the enraged Punjabi Giant was able to drive The Big Red Machine back up the ramp. As the tension continues to mount between these colossal forces, how much longer until things boil over?

- Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio & Finlay def. Dolph Ziggler & Mike Knox:
After losing to Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio at Night of Champions, Dolph Ziggler was looking to rebound in tag team action. Ziggler & Knox mounted a powerful offense, exhibiting control for most of the bout. However, just like at Night of Champions, the champion proved his superiority by getting the pinfall over the brash Ziggler.

- Cryme Tyme def. The Hart Dynasty:
At stake, an opportunity to compete for the Unified Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam. Cryme Tyme came up big, getting a win over The Hart Dynasty when JTG dropped Tyson Kidd with a Shout Out. Now, the tag team from Brooklyn, N.Y., is poised to take on Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show in perhaps the biggest match of their career.

- World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy def. John Morrison:
Just days after defeating CM Punk to win the World Title (recap), Jeff Hardy put his gold on the line against fiery young Superstar John Morrison. In his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship match, Morrison put Hardy to the test in an epic back-and-forth battle for gold. But the high-flyer prevailed, crushing The Friday Night Delight with a Twist of Fate followed up with a Swanton Bomb.

- CM Punk attacks Hardy:
As Hardy basked in the glow of his first successful title defense, CM Punk came to the ring to apparently congratulate Hardy by raising his arm in victory. But then, in an ugly display of poor sportsmanship, The Straightedge Superstar viciously assaulted Hardy amidst a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. The crazed ex-champion reigned down blow upon blow on Hardy, leaving him battered and beaten on the arena floor. Then, just when it appeared Punk was done, he attacked Hardy again, tossing his helpless body across the announce table and onto the arena floor.

Conclusion:
Punk as a heel works! John Morrison in the main event definitely works! Smackdown is the A Show!!!

  1. Yay! Finally Hardy got what he deserved. But what annoyed me was the commentary during the attack. They kept on downing on Punk, which is normal but what got me annoyed was that they acted as if Hardy didnt have it coming considering the numerous times hardy had attacked punk (which the commentators didnt mention). And whenever hardy did attack punk they acted as if it was nothing. I say “Good on ya Punk!”

  2. Great Smackdwon and Great main event, First time ive been excited after a smackdwon main event in a looong time

  3. I love punk as a heel! When he told the crowd to “just say no” last week he he got so much heat.
Morrison as a main event… Not so much. Since he’s turned face is seems the little personality he had is gone, he just smiles.
I also love the way Jerico/big show berated the crowd.
Smackdown is so much better then Raw right now. I’m so sick of the HHH/Cena/Orton love triangle. You have Orton scowling, HHH snarling and Cena screaming like a doushbag EVERY week! Hornswagle beating Chavo again and again is just terrible writing also.

  4. I thought Punk was impressive as a heel. Like that way much better than a face. But the real story is John Morrison. He was darn-near pitch perfect in that main event with Hardy. I hope Vince sees Morrison as a serious main eventer now and give him a serious push. He deserves it.
BTW, I’m not sure if this is a spoiler by saying this (as this is just my personal educated guess), but, I’ll just post SPOILER ALERT anyway.
SPOILER ALERT! There will be a Hardy/Punk rematch at Summerslam, and it’s no secret that Hardy wants to take some time off. With that being said, there’s a good chance (I’d say, oh, about a 99% chance) that Punk will claim the gold.
With that being said, doesn’t that kinda tarnish the legitimacy of the “Big Gold Belt”? I mean, first Hardy had it for less than a half only to lose it to Punk (via MITB briefcase), then Punk drops the strap less than a month later to Hardy only to (possibly) regain it a month later?

  5. this weeks smackdown was most entertaining the down side of it was jericho and shows theme sucked they need a whole new song all together did the song stutter “well its the big big big big big big” ttttodaayy junior!!

  6. yea its true. us adult fans will notice how anouncers will play it up when good guys cheat and down the villian for doing the same. thats the case we have with punk and hardy

  7. smack down is rally an A-Show , it deserves more ratings then raw

and i m happy hardy finally got the respect he desrve , he must get a good title run , and morrison proved himself that he really is the future of company , and must also deserve the main event statues more than any one in WWE.

  8. The Khali match shouldn’t have been registered as a no contest – Kane didn’t touch Khali and the referee should have counted him out – not thats it’s that important!

  9. cm punk is faking. after what he put jeff through he is going to be his friend. he is going to want his title back. that going to fight at summerlam. or jeff will fight john morrison again 4 the title, and cm punk will help john win. then turn on john morrison.

    CM PUNK SUCKS BALLS

  10. Kashaya bond RIP MJ….. umm duhh? it’s off coursed he’s faking it’s call sports “entertainment” and if u really get serious and madd whenever one of ur fav’s loses then suck it up and learn that it’s entertainment…… btw, Punk is a great heel and hopefully kane will bring back the mask eh?
