JR’s Replacement, Sandman Enters Rehab, Punk’s Bday, Kevin Nash Update
- Matt Striker has now been moved to Smackdown to replace Jim Ross for the forseeable future. His ECW position has been filled by FCW announcer Bryon Saxton.
- ECW legend the Sandman has entered rehab courtesy of WWE. WWE is still happily paying for the rehab of any former contracted talent.
- CM Punk turned 31 years old yesterday. If he’s anything like HBK or Taker, he still has a nice long career ahead.
- Following his recent outburst over management’s reaction to a bad Chis Sabin bump that could have left him injured, Kevin Nash was not booked at the latest tapings. It seems unfair considering he was only looking out Sabin’s well-being.

Nash not being booked may not neccessarily be the work of management, it could have been a choice thing by Nash, a cool-off n go home period suggested by someone or anything else entirely. Until anything significant comes out, theres no proof thats the case at all.
Im all up for reading the latest in wrestling politics, and Im far, far from sticking up for TNAs management, but some reports are blatantly just looking into things too much.
Well maybe, but if he bitched out management and then refused to work his next date I’m pretty sure he’d be in more heat.
I agree. But theres no saying that either – as were all my points, just speculation. I read tons of mini reports like that on other sites every day and they arent reports at all, just wild speculation. Which is fine and all – I certainly do enough of that in these comments sections, but I just cant take it seriously as news when its in a report.
Nash has always had backstage power for years, and despite TNAs recent shakeup with the Jarrett fiasco, I doubt hes suddenly in a position to be fucked around with. Whatever the reason hes not on this weeks taping, Id bet against it being a negative thing from management anyday.
It would be interesting if anything comes out supporting that theory though, hes not someone id want working for me, yet against me.
I’m sure even if there was a tiff they’ll sort things out. Nash is not one to put a payday at risk.
This is true. And that payday must have been acceptable for Nash to re-sign for another year recently, over any potential contract WWE would offer for a full time return.
At his stage in his career though, Id be surprised if he gave a damn whether TNA used him on TV or not.
I must say – Good for the WWE for sticking to there guns and pay for the Sandman’s rehab. I think if anybody needs it…
Sabin and Shelly are good kids. Their representation of Detroit is over the top and exagerated but i’m sure that what everyone wants to hear. I’ve seen some great shows with them in the Indie bowling ally scene.
Im Sure Nash was in the right. He’s from Trenton, he has downriver pride.
I also think it’s wonderful the way the WWE is supporting Sandmans rehab. If Conan needed rehab, I wonder if Dixie would foot that bill?
I’m just here to praise Nash one more time for putting Team 3D in there place. As veterans they should know health and wellness comes way before a finish spot! I guess Big Sexy has a soft spot for young talent : P
I’m kind of dissapointed no one has mentioned Matt Striker.. He is a damn good announcer. I hope when J.R. comes back, if he comes back, that Grisham drops to either ECW or off the face of the planet and Striker and J.R. do Smackdown. I think the pair could be really good together with Striker as the heel and J.R. as an over the top face. Could make good announcing for the first time in a long time.
