Jeff Hardy Comments On Recent Incident, WWE Opens Doors To Media

- On WWOR Channel 9’s New York news cast tonight at 10pm, they are plugging that Vince McMahon will take them on an “inside tour of the WWE.” This follows Smackdown’s debut on MyNetworkTV and will most likely be a tie in fluff piece, or something more business orientated, rather than a “Beyond The Mat.”

- Jeff Hardy was recently interviewed by the Baltimore Sun and had this to say about the recent airport incident:

“That was extremely blown out of proportion. So many wrestlers drink at times, and I had been drinking a lot that night. I’m not going to lie — I’ve been on planes a lot drunker than that. There was nothing rude done; I wasn’t violent or anything like that. I guess I was stumbling boarding the plane or something, and somebody must have just said that I was drunk, because I was asleep on the plane. This is Southwest, you know, open seating and everything. The first thing I remember is just waking up and security — it wasn’t police, it was security — saying, “Mr. Hardy, you have to get off the plane. We feel you’ve had too much to drink.” Matt got up and was like, “What’s the problem?” They were like, “He’s had too much to drink.” I go, “I was asleep. I’ll wake up in Raleigh. I’ve been like this before.” But I just cooperated and left the plane.”

“It does make me sick when — especially with me — anything negative, the Internet wants to highlight right away. One [site] actually said that Beth was with me and she was the one that was too drunk and she was handcuffed. I was never handcuffed. There were these crazy things like, “He got caught with contraband.” It was nothing like that.”

Keelan’s Call:
This annoys me big time, why do so many wrestlers talk negative about the internet and come up with all these things internet reports have supposedly said. I am active on virtually every major wrestling news website on the internet and write for about half of them, yet Jim Ross and Jeff Hardy and others still manage to find something somebody supposedly said, that we plainly didn’t. I’ve said this before. There is a difference between a news “website” with qualified writers that put their work through an editorial process and a “message board” or “chat room” where people just discuss amongst themselves. Where exactly do they read things like mentioned above? I swear they just make it up because they assume that’s what we say.

  1. I don’t know for sure but i am pretty certain that wrestlers and wrestling insiders know of and go through a greater number and variety of wrestling news and rumours websites than you. I do enjoy most of the content on wrestlingtruth.com, but often i am confused or feel mislead by reports. Recently you wrote a piece regarding an interview conducted with Kurt Angle in which you took his quotes and misconstrued them into a context which you clearly invented to create speculation regarding his TNA future and his overall character. Now i’m sure what I have written will provoke a response from you and readers of wrestlingtruth.com, so why can’t jeff hardy himself comment on slander and lies about himself as an individual which he reads on the internet?

  2. Because he makes it sound like we’re all doing it and gives news sites a bad rep. I know for a fact that he wouldn’t have read it in the news section of ANY wrestling news site nor Newsletter. I visit most of them and the remaining ones just copy and paste or employ the exact same reports. He either read it on a message board from a fan making up rubbish, somebody relayed it to him via Chinese Whispers, or he just made it up because everyone whines about the internet so he thought he might, in which case it is not our fault and we shouldn’t be tarred like that.

I admit I occasionally might over analyze a situation and add some editorial opinion, but I don’t outright lie and say things like “Ohh Jeff Hardy was caught smoking crack on an airplane.” I take exception to that.

This is after all a good portion of my livelihood and I must protect that.

As for wrestlers visiting news sites. You’d be surprised the amount that don’t. Vince used to have a policy where a few employees had to gather the general consensus of opinions about PPVs and such, but even then they barely scratched the surface.

  3. His use of the word “internet” in the context of his point does indeed make it look like he is tarring you all with the same brush as they say. I don’t know Jeff personally, but I wouldn’t say that he seems like the most tech savvy wwe employee or the one who is the most knowledgeable about the internet. Everyone gets annoyed when they read ridiculous slander about themselves, so even if he did read it on a forum or message board he still has the right to condemn what he sees as internet snipers out to insult him not only as a professional, but as a role model to the many young fans he has around the world. This has never been more important than now when wwe are reaching out to an increasingly younger demographic. Plus he doesn’t refer to his source as a wrestling news site, he merely says he visited “one site”. He could be referring to any kind of site and his comment shouldn’t be misconstrued.

Please don’t get me wrong, I admire your critical analysis and agree with your opinion 9 times out of 10. I visit wrestlingtruth.com multiple times a day, probably addicted I know, but I think it has great content and you do a good job in relaying the sheer amount of news in the informative manner that you do. I didn’t say that you out and out ‘lie’ but I do think you occasionally misconstrue quotations to the point where you take offence when it is needless to do so.

As for vince’s policy, with such unnecessary restrictions on what they can and can’t read on the internet, do you blame wrestlers for being intimidated when they read or hear of negative comments about them, especially comments regarding personal matters and their private life?

  4. I understand your points, it’s the same with all famous people and not wanting their private life pasted all over the place; I at least try to do it in a truthful and respectful manner, not posting anything unless its sourced or confirmed. I guess I should really be mad at the idiot out there who did mention the slanderous things that Jeff is talking about. The nature of the internet makes it a dangerous place, people can say what they want when they want with the potential of thousands of people reading it blindly.

In light of your comments about quotes etc I think for the better of everyone, that I’ll be more strict with news and opinions and leave opinions under a “Keelan’s Call” or at least in brackets to differentiate facts and my own take on the situation.

  5. tell the truth if jeff hardy was smokeing crack or what ever just tell the truth give the man a break.

  6. anya is abit sexy and i like her abit
