Heel Report – Week 4
As a fan I have always been naturally drawn to cheering for heels and booing faces, now maybe I have the WWE backwards but it just seems to me that heels are far more entertaining to watch, so I have decided to showcase the heels of the WWE in all their cheating and underhanded glory with this weekly heel report.
This week’s top ten:
1st Place: Chris Jericho
The Fozzy front man took back his rightful place at the top of the chart this week, exacting his revenge on Hardy and Mysterio in true Jericho fashion after they stole his momentum last week. A crafty attack from the crowd, leading to the near unmasking of Mysterio, gives Jericho the full ten points. (10/10 points)
2nd Place: Edge
After a couple of weeks of trailing, Edge came back this week with a vicious attack to Hardy with a ladder. In proving his dominance over the extreme ignoramus, the rated ‘R’ superstar also secured himself second place in the chart. (9/10 points)
3rd Place: Umaga
The Samoan savage makes his debut in the chart at an impressive third place after facing down Jeff Hardy and taking a strap to Morrison. Can Umaga keep up this heel momentum without a mouthpiece to give him direction? Only time will tell. (8/10 points)
4th Place: Ted DiBiase
The son of the Million Dollar Man makes his father proud this week by beating his own mentor, Randy Orton, at his own game. Out-heeling Raw’s top heel by way of several sneak attacks and a Cena beat-down on Superstars, things are looking up for the Legacy lackey. (7/10 points)
5th Place: Randy Orton
Talking down to the Nature Boy and heat with former WWE Superstar, Mr. Kennedy, could not save the Legend Killer from slipping down to fifth place this week as he was outshone by the company’s two other top heels and a couple of fresh faces in the chart. Can Orton redeem himself next week? (6/10 points)
6th Place: The Miz
Capitalizing on the classic move of insulting a hometown crowd’s sports team pays off for The Miz as he earns a respectable five points for himself. The Chick Magnet continues to ride the Cena train, but in a slip from second to sixth this week, is his journey coming to an end? (5/10 points)
7th Place: Maryse
Proving her diva dominance, Maryse manages to stay at seventh place this week as she continues to impress with constant taunts and a solid ‘I’m better than you’ attitude. (4/10 points)
8th Place: Tyson Kidd
His second appearance in the chart, Kidd is making the most of his new position in the Hart Dynasty and is turning into a recognisable heel with a bright future, the only question is how far his stable will go staying on the company’s third rate show, we’ll just have to wait and see. (3/10 points)
9th Place: Matt Hardy
More solid cast work this week for Hardy but he still slips from fifth to ninth place. Perhaps if we counted website posts V1 blogger would be higher on the chart, but unfortunately it’s only a meagre two points for the internet savvy Superstar. (2/10 points)
10th Place: Mark Henry
He’s big, he’s bad and he’s back in the charts. A count-out loss to the high-flying Evan Bourne can’t keep Henry from taking a point this week. Will it be enough to keep him in the running top ten? See below to find out! (1/10 points)
Overall top ten:
* 1st Place – Chris Jericho: 36/40
*2nd Place – Edge: 30/40

Weekly Filler:
The Face-Off: Vince McMahon’s appearance on Raw
‘Hi, I’m Vince McMahon; I break my own company’s storylines and will send it cascading down into the depths of television hell just to satisfy my over-inflated ego.’ This is what Vince might have well have said this week after taking up far too much airtime with a pointless, self-pleasing, segment. Just think; if Vince had the restraint not to rise to the events that took place he might have made the WWE look like it had a little class rather than being a brash company full of loud-mouthed and idiotic fans. What’s more if Raw didn’t have that stupid Lakers vs. Nuggets match then Kennedy might have had a bigger return and possibly not have re-injured himself. It’s all ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ but if I was Mr. Kennedy I would be pretty angry at the knowledge that I might have been fired just so Vince could have a good chuckle at his own juvenility.
Face the Facts: Tommy Dreamer
The heart of ECW was beating strong again this week as Dreamer stepped up to be counted and outshone both Swagger and Christian by getting himself into their match at Extreme Rules, making it a triple threat hardcore match. Could this be a comeback for the only ECW original left in the WWE, or is this just one last extreme flurry before the only representative of the former Philadelphia-based promotion is ripped callously from his company’s namesake. Let’s hope it’s the former.
On the Rise: Dolph Ziggler
After a shocking attack on The Great Khali a few weeks ago, the platinum former spirit squad member still has not truly gotten his comeuppance. After walking out on his partner, Mike Knox, this week after realising what a talentless loser he was, things could be looking up for the new addition to the Smackdown roster. Once rumoured to be going back to the developmental territories, Ziggler looks to be a mainstay on Friday nights, even if it is at lower mid-card level.
Flat Footed: Jack Swagger
A bad week for the All American American, it was not a slew of sneak attacks or loses that kept Swagger out of the charts this week but a simple lack of heel action. Being outshone by Tommy Dreamer and the Hart Dynasty on ECW and a clean victory over Finlay on Superstars caused the Oklahoma native to slip from a solid third to a shaky fifth place on the running heel chart. Can he regain his coveted bronze position? Come back next week to find out!
