Hearing Voices: A Review of WWE The Music Vol. 9
By James Wright on February 4th, 2009
As I have just listened to it, I thought I would give a review of the new WWE music CD.
First of all I have to say that I have been waiting to have a copy of the new Randy Orton theme since I first heard it. Well technically it was a week after first hearing it after saying; “WTF!!! Why did they change his theme, that was the best entrance music ever!” Then I heard it again and realized it was actually better and completely worked for his character. It is the first track on the album and doesn’t disappoint, although it does have a strange intro where the theme fades in after the starting cord of ‘Burn in my light’. Not sure if I like that as much as the straight theme but I think I will have to wait until a few more plays before I decide if it is better or worse without it.
Now the bad parts; besides ‘Voices’ most everything else is basically pap. R-Truth’s and Jack Swagger’s themes are pretty decent but I’m not sure if they are worth spending your money on. I personally like Vladimir Kozlov’s theme but I could see a lot of people not really caring about it so I don’t know if I can count it as a plus. Maryse and Eve’s themes are mediocre at best, and that’s a stretch! The Smackdown theme is like all the others, an ok if forgettable metal song, I wonder what will replace it in a couple of months hmm…Who cares! The Great Khali, Kane, and Umaga’s themes are complete write offs and are clearly just padding for an already padded out disk.
Now here’s where the album made me angry; Track 5 – ‘Holla’, Kelly Kelly’s theme. Now correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t her theme on the last album? Well now it’s here again, slightly remixed and just as crap. What a waste of disk space! The reason this infuriates me so much is because Brian Kendrick’s ‘Man with the plan’ doesn’t even make an appearance on this CD of apparently new music. Am I alone in thinking that this is one of the biggest screw jobs by the WWE since a certain Hitman and a Heartbreak Kid squared off in Montreal…okay maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration but it certainly pissed me off. I don’t think I’m the only one who loves that theme and to not have it on the album really does take the piss.
Last but not least; ‘Priceless’. I cannot convey how excited I was that finally after listening to this theme on youtube constantly for about two months I was going to be able to actually have a copy. Then a moment of horror, watching RAW I realized they had changed the theme, given it a completely unnecessary rock makeover. ‘Oh No!’ I thought, I won’t ever be able to hear that theme at the start of a match again, but I took solace in the fact that it was safe on the album that was coming out soon. What I didn’t realize was that the reason it had changed on RAW is because they were playing the version that was on the album. Mother F$%$^ers!!! Is the phrase that springs to mind.
Where is my proper ‘Priceless’ theme? Where is The Brian Kendrick’s theme? Why is there an annoying fade in on one of the best themes of the last decade? The answer to all these questions involves statements about the people who made this album, their heads, and something about them being up their arses.
Do not waste your money on this!!! Download it maybe or just record Orton’s theme off the Smackdown vs Raw 2009 videogame (that’s what I did before I got the CD).
Doubt me if you like but you will be sorely disappointed with your purchase I guarantee.
Correct me, condemn me, disagree with me, whatever you want. Just comment and spread the love.

You are so right this cd was such crap. It was a waste of my money and time.
I think it was a quick way to release Randy Ortons song, people wanted it so much they would buy a whole album for it.
I will admit as a long time fan that the CD could have been better, I mean I bought it b/c I own the others. You Know Vol.’s 2,3,4,5,6,8,forceable entry, wreckless intent, originals, anthology. I have to rebuy Vol.4 b/c I lost my copy. Besides Vol.9 not being all it can be, what was the deal with Vol.7 being ONLY RELASED on ITunes, That sucks. Also I have heard rumors there were two versions of forceable entry, b/c on the one I have Kane’s old theme “Slow Chemical” isn’t there and neither is Charlie Haas’s theme “Pay The Price”. Kane’s was advertised at shows as being on there, but Charlie’s was only available on Itunes,WTF.Also what’s up with there being two versions of Vol.8. The one version has two extra tracks, but you can only get it at wal mart. I bought the first copy I saw at FYE, then I saw the add, and had to rebuy it, again, WTF.On top of that one of the extra tracks was Ashly’s theme “Light A Fire”, cool huh, wrong , it was a watered down version, not the cool rock version you heard on TV and house shows.Well I have ranted long enough, gtg. Thanks
Pretty much agree- although my favorite’s actually the Jack Swagger tune- thought it was Rage Against The Machine- but apparently, close, its from a Rage tribute band called Age Against The Machine from somewhere near Boston. Yeah, Orton tune’s one of the better one’s too- def aggreed.
