Gail Kim Confirmed For WWE, THQ News, Val Venis Name Issues
- It pretty much seems like a done deal that Gail Kim is heading for WWE as WWE have re activated their trademark of the Gail Kim name. She’ll be joining the company when her TNA contract officially expires.
- THQ have taken out a massive $5 million advertising campaign for next year’s WWE Smackdown Vs Raw video game release.
- Speaking of trademarks, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office WWE have been denied registration of the trademark name “Val Venis,” because the name refers to a living person of whom they need consent from, for it to go ahead.
The interesting thing here is that WWE likes to own the names of any wrestlers in the company, so when they leave they can’t use the name to make money on the Indy scene. Could this be the age old reason why they have never released Val Venis, because he could just leave and go elsewhere, still using the Val Venis name and gimmick? I’ll do some more digging.
