World famous boxing welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Announced his retirement from the boxing ring yesterday, but that doesn’t mean he’s done in the wrestling ring. In 39 fights Mayweather has lost zero, retiring on top – although dodging the heavily anticipated rematch with Oscar De La Hoya. He shocked and in some eyes embarrassed the boxing industry in March when he faced the Big Show in an over-hyped match for WWE’s Wrestlemania 24 extravaganza, and wrestling fans were embarrassed themselves, that is until the match ended up being surprisingly entertaining.

Mayweather is a character and an entertainer, fitting perfectly in to the storylines of WWE, and it was mentioned on multiple occasions that the door is always open for a return to wrestling. His boxing career may be over but his wrestling career has the potential to continue.
