Monday Night Raw was from Nashville, Tennessee and with Triple H rumored to appear tonight and Wrestlemania one week closer it looks like to be an explosive Raw tonight. The show kicked off with a recap of last week’s unsanctioned match between Shane O’Mac and Randy Orton plus help with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, as well as Steph getting RKO’d and Triple H getting mad. I love these recaps and footages they are done really well by the backstage crowd. Vickie Guerrero comes out to a great heel reaction and with Shane & Steph being knocked out by the hands of Orton, one can only think that she will be the general manager, and that is what she says to. She says as Shane & Steph out of action she is Raw’s interim general manager, which is the exact same way she started on SmackDown! Will history repeat itself? Also where is Teddy Long in all this, he is GM of ECW, and with ratings low it could be a way to get the name of ECW out there to more people. Plus I feel he was a better GM on SmackDown that Vickie, as he made more high profile matches and kept us thinking on how he could out do himself. In no more than 1 minute enter the former world heavyweight champion John Cena. Cena goes on about how everyone needing a job and saying why did the Board of Directors chose Vickie? After taking the piss out of Mike Adamle & Michael Cole, he congratulates Vickie and then goes on about how she cares about Edge being a major titleholder rather than the crowd. He says he is going to cash in his title rematch tonight, then enter Edge and Big Show, I don’t see why Show is there, I thought after No Way Out he was going to turn face, looks like another WWE rewind moment. Cena says to Edge stand up and be a man and defend that title. Edge says no to the title rematch tonight, and goes on about how Cena wants to be the Hulk Hogan/Steve Austin in this generation and how Edge won’t let it happen and how it won’t happen because he is in the same generation as him. When Edge is finished he says he gets his confidence from the 400 lbs beast and describes Big Show, then says it’s Vickie, a great typical Cena cheek moment. Big Show says show some respect for his boss. Cena then can’t see where Show adds up to this, then gets to the conclusion of Big Show and Vickie together in bed, another Cena cheek moment. Then Vickie speaks to Cena and says he will either face her friend or her family, before hand describing Big Show as her friend and Edge as her family.

We then get the announcement of our first money in the bank triple threat qualifying match between CM Punk, John Morrison & The Miz. Before the break we see Legacy enter with Orton getting a black hard case out of the boot of the car. After the break the money in the bank qualifying match gets under way, and from the get go Morrison and Miz team up and go to work on CM Punk, after Cole & The King suggest that these two will turn against each other at one point in the match. After another break we see CM Punk back in the ring with Morrison, who hits Morrison’s with a running knee to the shaman of sexy’s head. Then Miz comes in and gets his on arm to Punk’s head. Miz gets a near fall and after getting Punk in a submission it looks to be over, but Punk reverses the hold and manages to get a double team, which was done really badly. After the tag team get back on top after Morrison hits the moonlight drive with Punk on the shoulders of Punk. Miz goes for the pin and gets a near fall and then the tag team work implodes and the tag team go at it. Punk seizes this to his advantage and gets Morrison in position for the GTS and Miz is knocked out of the ring in a really badly acted way and gets knocked out of the ring. Punk hits the GTS and wins the match.

Next was the interview of JR and Triple H seen on SmackDown! I’m not going to recap this as you can look at this on my recap of Friday Night SmackDown! on this site.

After the interview Todd Grisham goes looking for an interview with Orton and is outside his locker room but gets Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase who try and put the blame on the McMahon’s. We then see Glamerella, with Santino finally has the blonde highlights died down, going to the ring for a mixed tag team action, with Glamerella with Dolph Ziggler. After the break we see Melina and Cryme Tyme against Glamerella & Dolph Ziggler (who all come out together, Dolph Ziggler enters with them, interesting…) Melina and Beth Phoenix start the match with Beth Phoenix getting on top, but we see Melina being more viscous too as well as becoming more off a well round wrestler. Tag made and we see Dolph Ziggler enter and JTG in with him, after planting Dolph’s face to the mat twice, one with JTG from the second turnbuckle, Dolph gets on top of JTG and JTG gets the tag. Shad goes to work on Dolph and hits him with a great clothesline and sending Dolph high in the sky and then planting his face back to the mat! Dolph was sent higher than Shad, huge elevation! As Shad going to hit the money shot, I think that is what it’s called, Dolph gets the tag and sends Santino in who whilst in the ring psyches himself up. He runs into Shad who hits his finisher, a Russian Leg Sweep, and they get the win. Cryme Tyme don’t get the push they deserve as a tag team, and both look like great wrestlers, I would love to see them against the Hardy’s if they get back together, hopefully.

After a break we see a Wrestlemania hype footage with it being 41 days away as of this Monday. Next match is JBL Vs HBK and whoever wins gets the right to challenge the Undertaker to a match at Wrestlemania. Cole reveals before the match that next week we will have the winner of this match going against Vladimir Koslov on Raw next week. When the match gets underway HBK gets on top briefly until JBL hits a big boot to HBK’s face, JBL gets a near fall. JBL takes advantage but HBK dodges JBL’s stomp and forehand’s JBL chest to get a 1 count. Then momentum changes hands at least 3 times, and JBL eventually gets on top and goes to work on HBK by irish whipping him to the corners everywhere. JBL then hits a right hand to HBK’s face knocking Michaels out of the ring. JBL being in his brawling mode, JBL goes to put HBK’s face to the metal post but it’s reversed and JBL’s face is introduced to the post, JBL’s face rebounds off the post and hits HBK in the face as well. After a 9 count they both get in the ring and after the break we see JBL on top going for a top rope superplex, but JBL is knocked off. Michaels loses his balance and gives Michaels a boot to the head and sends HBK to the mat below. He gets back in the ring in a 7 count. JBL hits the clothesline, but HBK kicks out on 2. JBL since the start of the match targeting the back of HBK gets him into a submission which HBK gets out off and gives JBL and chest slap. HBK shoulder tackles JBL gets back up atomic drops JBL and slams JBL to the mat, who then hits an elbow to JBL’s chest from the top turnbuckle. JBL dodges sweet chin music, throws HBK to the ropes who gets back in whilst holding on to the top rope. JBL then hits a big boot to HBK’s face, HBK eventually gets up whilst getting abuse from JBL, who goes to hit another clothesline but HBK hits Sweet Chin Music. 1,2,3 HBK wins. Out comes Vladimir Koslov with his entrance music, after a face-off and USA chants for the count, HBK goes to attack Koslov, but gets a Koslov version of the chokeslam.

A Wrestlemania 24 recap with a voiceover by someone, it concentrates on Ric Flair’s last stand and his last match. Jamie Noble in the ring, who again sets himself a target of beating his target of 15 seconds last week against Kane, and says he’s going to Wrestlemania. Mike Knox enters to be his opponent, Noble briefly gets an attack on Knox, Knox hits a big boot and then the Russian Leg Sweep who gets the pin. 29 seconds this week Jamie, nearly double than last week. Now is the announcement of the newest member to the Hall of Fame, Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat. A great recap of Ricky’s career. Next we see Michael Cole interviewing Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat, who gives talks to us his career highlights and he thanks the crowd and is proud to be recognised by the WWE and to be introduced into the HOF. Enter Jericho who says thank you to the academy on not giving Mickey Rourke the Oscar and how that reminds him of Piper, Flair as well as Ricky. He goes on about how Ricky was a sell out when he became ‘The Dragon’ and that what he did was for a paycheque. Instead of going back to the ring he takes the backdoor route and gets a backstage job and gets the bone he deserves. Jericho goes on about how he is a hypocrite and how he should enjoy it with the other hypocrites, the fans. Ricky responds on how he remembers signing an autograph for Jericho 20 years ago, and how he admires him and who Jericho was is hero, as well as how he wrote it in his autobiography. When he came to the WWE he kept turning against and embracing the fans constantly and that is a hypocrite. Ricky then goes on saying that he didn’t change once to the fans, and how he entertained the fans everytime he came through the curtain. He also says that him and the other legends now where they stand, and that him backstage isn’t a sell out and that he got the job as he loves the business and helping the talent rising to the company. He also goes on about how Jericho will never be what he is, a Hall of Famer. Jericho has had enough and attacks Ricky with a microphone and now gives him verbal abuse. Afterwards Michael Cole goes on about earlier tonight and Vickie Guerrero and Cena, he also makes the mistake of nearly saying Raw general manager, may be that could be another sign of Vickie being GM of two brands.

After the break is the main event with Cena, waiting for his opponent, either friend of family. Vickie enters and says he will follow her were ever she goes, saying he may be on SmackDown! this week, and if she decides to come back to Raw next week he’ll be waiting, and he will keep following her until he gets his rematch, similar tactics of a stropy 2 year old child, congrats Cena very mature, but ballsy. Vickie chooses family and sends out Chavo. WHY?! No offence against him but I don’t think he is main event material. As the match goes underway Chavo briefly gets ontop, but Cena immediately gets on top and hits the 5 knuckle shuffle, then the ‘attitude adjustment’ following it up with the STF(U). We now see Legacy go to the ring with a sledgehammer, held by Orton, before the enter, we see Michael Cole announces War Machine as the official theme song of Wrestlemania 25 and HBK Vs Koslov and the winner will face Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25. Now come in Legacy, and in the ring Orton says he has been waiting for Triple H all night and now should wait in the ring, if he does turn up, he will be just like the other McMahon’s arrogant, out of touch and just plain stupid. He then goes on and says that Stephanie isn’t the victim and that he is, and that the McMahon’s wouldn’t let him be, and Vince McMahon was insulting his family when he was about to fire him, having IED, he punted Vince. After No Way Out he Shane challenged him, and kept coming and coming and eventually was put in a hospital bed next to his dad. Last time Steph and Orton met she slapped him and that she got in his face and his instinct took over. He then goes on and goes on about how they don’t know what it is like to be him, as a celebrity, the media and the pressure etc. However, the McMahon’s do so they should have known. Orton goes on about how he hopes Triple H’s children where watching so they can learn not to do that. Enter Triple H into the arena and then eventually to the ring with no music. Reluctant to get in Orton says they should do it the right way, like men with no sledgehammers so they both eventually drop them, Legacy go to surround Triple H who brings out a second sledgehammer from his the back of his jeans and shirt whilst now being in the ring. After hitting Cody with the wooden end of the hammer, we see a wild goose chase around the arena which saw a barricaded door broken with Orton and Ted inside, a glass bottle smashed, as well as broken mirror and a hole in the wall, trash cans on the floor, a broken car window and Legacy getting away.

Great Raw, less squash matches this week.

Woodshack Out…
