ECW Rating, JR Wants To Ban Chairs, Hulkamania Airdate, Alicia Injured, Haas Devastated
- This Tuesday’s ECW on Syfy drew a 0.8 cable rating. This is the lowest number the show has ever done. unless it is an anomaly, it’s quite worrying news.
- In light of studies on Andrew “Test” Martin’s brain, which revealed similar damage to Chris Benoit, Jim Ross is calling for a ban on chair shots in the WWE.
“Concussions are a big issue in sports today and let’s not forget that pro wrestling/sports entertainment or whatever in the hell one wants to call it doesn’t have the franchise on this dilemma. However, chair shots to the skull should be forbidden in wrestling. Period. End of story. Bottom line.”
WWE officials are still touting the company line that Benoit couldn’t have had the brain of an 80-year-old Alzheimer patient because he wouldn’t have made it on planes. I guess that dismisses all the scientific data then.
- The Melbourne leg of the Hulkamania tour will be airing on One HD on Sunday night in Australia. It will have Umaga’s last ever match.
- WWE Diva Alicia Fox injured her shoulder on the house-show loop and will need a few weeks to rest up.
- Charlie Haas isn’t taking the passing of Umaga too well. The pair were close friends and business partners. Umaga part owned Haas’ nutrition store in Houston.

well J.R i respect your opinion but wrestler’s are not dieing because of chair shots but becasue of the money hugry mr,McMahon who forces wrestlers to wrestle 5 times a week just to fill his pocket with bucks .
Exactly, jawad. Mick Foley should be a testament to that. After all of the trauma to the body and head, Mick Foley is still up and about and articulate as hell.
It’s not the chair shots killing the wrestlers. The actual causes of death are mostly drug and alcohol related. If McMahon didn’t work them like dogs day in and day out without time to rest, then a lot of pain and injuries could be avoided. But instead, he chooses to be a modern day Simon Legree cracking the whip at their backs making them wrestle with no recouperation time.
I can see Haas more open to a switch now. Despite the raise. Just to clear his hed and occupy his mind.
first no blood, then no chairs, we only get extreme rules once a year.. wwe is going to turn into a sissy organization, maybe it already has. i have watch ring of honor, indy, tna, etc…. they put wwe to shame if u ask me!!! TNA FEB 4TH.. WATCH IT, GIVE THEM A GOOD RATING.. BRING BACK THE COMPETITIVE FIRE OF THE LATE 90′S!!!!
Not great timing from JR, a few days before the first ever TLC PPV
kenny, that’s January 4th, not February.
Yeah JR thats why TNA is getting better and the WWE is giveing us Hornswaggle!
WWE doesn’t even have sexy women doing anything anymore! Now I am watchin sexy women who can wrestle do it in the mud on TNA!
my bad, i stand corrected. thank u sir. forgive me, the beers sometimes effect my thinking
What’s wrong with just taking chair shots to the back?
I agree that a shot to the head occasionally adds something to a match, but big deal. Most of the classic matches had no chairs at all.
What’s so bad about forbidding head shots until more research is done and more of the dots are connected regarding concussions? Jesus – what kind of “fan” demands chair shots to the head even though it is probably causing brain damage?
I’m no fan of the PG era, but I can do without head shots until medical science can tell us for SURE that a chair to the skull is not potentially creating another Benoit tragedy.
Also, if you read Foley’s second book you might remember him talking about having memory problems.
yes chair shots do damage brain but thats wrestling folks , a wrestler have to endure evey thing ,from tables to chairs, but even there are many son of bitches keeps bitching that wrestling is fake .
AIC, do you watch MMA? Do you watch boxing? The shots they take are REAL, people have died or been seriously brain damaged in ONE FIGHT in those organisations. Yet nobody is calling for a ban on MMA or boxing (yes I know there have been protests in the past but I’m talking current events) The fact that wrestlers take chair-shots, huge bumps and high-spots only adds to the excitement and thrill of the event. Hell In The Cell PPV was a waste of time, the “most hellacious match” was reduced to a farce because no-one bled. Even a drop of claret would have been something. Can you imagine if at TLC no-one gets hit with a chair? Undertaker v Batistas “chairs match” (wtf???) would be a non-event! Next it’ll be that you can’t jump off the top rope in case someone breaks their ankle!
