ECW Original Backstage, Y2J To Feud With Mysterio, Tommy Dreamer Update
- Word doing the rounds is that ECW original Shane Douglas was backstage at the other day’s WWE Smackdown tapings. By all accounts he was just visiting since he lives in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Last month Douglas shockingly returned to the NWA for the first time in nearly 15 years, wrestling for NWA-On Fire defeating former fellow original Little Guido (Nunzio).
- Although it is not completely set in stone Chris Jericho is pushing for a long feud with Rey Mysterio, whom has seemingly been lost in “David versus Goliath” matches for the last few months.
The feud has been given a test run on the house show circuit, where Jericho repeatedly tries to remove Mysterio’s mask.
- According to The Wrestling Observer it is not certain that Tommy Dreamer will retire when his contract is up. WWE have offered him at least a year’s extension. This may be why they haven’t got behind any major retirement storyline for the ECW Original, because he may end up sticking around.
There were reports that he might take on an ECW GM position, although nothing is concrete.

- It Would be nice to see Shane Douglas back in the ring.
- If Tommy Dreamer ended up as ECW GM, maybe he could bring back “extreme Rulez” matches where they actually use weapons and leave the ring but with Vince having the Last word – I doubt it.
