- Because so many mainstream media outlets picked up on the Donald Trump storyline as fact, The USA Network released the following:

“USA Network and WWE issued a press release on June 16 that referred to Monday Night RAW’s storyline of a ’sale’ of WWE’s RAW to Donald Trump. We intended the release to be promotional for that ongoing story arc on the series. There is no such actual ’sale’. We apologize for any confusion.”

So much for kayfabe anymore, what’s the point of him “buying” Raw if they give away that it is just a storyline?

WWE really does baffle me nowdays.

  2. Too many mainstream media outlets picked up n it, and WWE stock even dropped lol – kayfabe is a strange concept in this day and age. I personally think everything on a show should obviously be kayfabe, and WWE.com should be 100% kayfabe, but outside of that I think treating it with respect but as a performance in the mainstream is a good way to go.

  3. I liked when I heard that some networks were “done giving press to WWE”. Like it is WWE’s fault they were too stupid to check a few basic facts before running the story.

  4. of course it was a storyline, duhhh. companies, networks, etc. actually thought he bought it for real? i guess the stage falling on top of vince during million dollar mania was real too, lol.

  5. How come the Raw 15th anniversary dvd still up in buy rates? Its been around for ages

  6. I think its just something old fans tend to pick up when they see it in the store. Also you may often see a DVD pop back in to the rankings because a big chain put it in the bargain bin or something lol
