Dreamer On WWE NXT, JBL Tweets, Cena’s Health, Hart DVD, WWE Suing UK Fed?

- Tommy Dreamer posted the following on Twitter after the announcement that ECW will be no more in 3 weeks:
“Many people have asked me why I left WWE. If you watched ECW tonight, a piece of the puzzle was revealed for my actions. Stay tuned.”

- JBL jokingly mocked WWE’s recent ratings on Twitter:
“Raw did 3.7 and they are happy? Shawn Michaels and i did 4.1s, ron and i did an 8.6. JBL #1 free agent in wrestling? I think so. I draw #s!”

- Thanks to Nick Noel:
“To follow up on the news that John Cena underwent an MRI last week to determine the extent of his back injury, the MRI came back clean. It’s been reported that Cena has been working with a bulging disc in his lower back and he’s been working a lighter schedule in recent weeks, but he is in relatively good shape.”

- Bret Hart posted the following on Facebook regarding the upcoming Hart family DVD:
“It’s been especially rewarding watching the rough cut of the new Hart Family DVD coming out by the WWE in April with candid interviews by several of my sisters and brothers, who offer interesting perspectives on things that even I didn’t know. This video will impress any fans that knew and loved my family. The research of footage is as impressive as any DVD project undertaken by WWE Home Video. Clips of the old Stampede days both in black and white and in color, along with rare family photos and personal interviews with varying brothers and sisters, bring back memories of imagery from Hart House family dinners, the dungeon, the Victoria Pavilion, and even Clearwater Beach. This April, I’ll proudly put this DVD next to my favorites in my collection. -Bret”

- Thanks to TJ UK:
On Tuesday 2nd February UK based Varsity Pro Wrestling received several emails from World Wrestling Entertainment’s Vice President of Intellectual Property Lauren Middlen regarding the use of WWE trademarked names including Billy Gunn, Hardcore Holly and DX which appear on a current advertising campaign for up coming superstar tour which also follows a Dark Knight theme.

The warnings or demands as WWE called them are as follows.

1. immediately cease and desist using WWE trademarks in connection with the upcoming VPW events

2. remove and recall all advertising bearing the WWE trademarks (print, online, etc.);

3. provide to WWE an accounting of all sales and inventory for any consumer products released, or planned for release which bear any WWE intellectual property.

4. confirm in writing that you have complied with all of WWE’s demands by replying to this notice.

WWE also claimed that by having BG James and Kip James billed as Billy Gunn and The Road Dogg on a VPW event is a short cut by VPW at trying to pass events off as a WWE event and cashing in on DX popularity.

VPW states “we have at no point tried to pass VPW off as a WWE event, our new advertising is soley based on brand awareness of the VPW logo which includes all online advertising at varsityprowrestling.com and printed advertising which has gone out on billboards posters and flyers across the south uk and all the planned VPW events will still take place with all confirmed stars”

Varsity Pro Wrestling can be seen featuring Hardcore Holly Billy Gunn and The Road Dogg at The Portsmouth Guildhall on Feb 12th and The Vyne Community School Basingstoke on Sat 13th February

here is a recent video from VPW – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8T3B-c7KME

It seems VPW know how to get attetion, lets hope the shows are as good as the hype.

  1. ill pretend JBL meant he draws pounds not numbers cuz he was fat when he left

  2. Can anyone find an entry were it backs up an 8.6 rating for the APA? That sounds like an incredibly high rating compared to nowadays!

  3. It wasn’t an APA segment, they were just on the show that week.

  4. Raw drew. JBL…well he was never a draw on Raw. Smackdown, for sure, especially during his title reign and Eddie feud. Meh, let him believe his hype if it keeps his big head in check and out of the ring we all benefit, unless he drops the beer belly and comes back full time (which he wont, and doesnt need to put his back under the stress)

  5. JBL is a BSer he didn’t draw that much ratings cmon his “wwe title” reign “unearned” as it was was about the only “draw” he ever had as a singles competitor after that his career dwindled substantially and his “character” got more annoying afterwords enforcing that the JBL gimmick” was a horrible idea i mena seriously a “cowboy/wall-street” version of The Million Dollar Man, the only love i had for Bradshaw was when the “APA” was still brawling the tag team division…. Tommy Dreamer’s career was over way b4 the original ECW was bankrupt, he were just a “draw” to get ECW fans to watch but he didn’t really do much for the company that last ECW title reign was BS at best, the reason he left was because he realized he wouldn’t do anything else in wrestling besides get beat up by the younger stars, ill bet money he ends up in TNA the company thats milking the careers of wrestlers made Famous by WWE and WCW to boost popularity for the company and younger stars, while continuing to copy every storyline that WWE and WCW had, the only thing about TNA worth watching is the X-division but just like the cruiser-weight division in WCW and WWE it’s dying FAST as it’s being less and less “innovative” and more “repetitive”, i laugh that they think Hogan will do anywhere near as good for TNA as he did WCW keep dreaming after a few weeks since hogan arrived in TNA it’s pretty obvious that this new venture will do nothing but embarrassed TNA and that sexy Dixie Carter

  6. oh yeah reviving ECW was BAD idea, and FYI Ecw fans ECW died way b4 vince purchased it because it was nothing more than a “glorified stunt show of wrestlers trying to mae a name for themselves by risking their lives”… paul heyman didn’t manage his companies money right, maybe vince should’ve bought it years earlier then maybe the original ecw would still be alive …FINALLY ECW is DEAD what a waste of good millions
