Column: WWE’s Goldmine of Talent

[Matt Saye discusses WWE's Goldmine of young talent that could easily lead the company if given the opportunity].

WWE has many “gold” superstars sitting in their locker room right now. When I say ‘gold’ I don’t mean they’re literally gold, I mean that they are very talented and, if pushed right, could be ‘big money’. I have listed them in the order I believe they are most deserving: here they are, for you, dear reader…

In order of most deserving:

Christian – He has worked so damn hard his entire career to get to this point. Just because he worked for a rival promotion doesn’t make him “no good” as McMahon sees him. Christian is the most talented guy in the ECW locker room, and dammit he deserves a push.

MVP – The gimmick is awesome, the mic skills are awesome, the in-ring work in very good. Why isn’t this guy being build for main event superstardom? Everyone I speak to love MVP’s work. It’s just for Vinnie Mac to see “the potential” for him to get there.

CM Punk – For some reason, one of my all-time favourites. In the ring, he can get it done. His character is unique, and he has all the tools to become a big dog in the very big yard that is the WWE. With him now holding his second Money in the Bank title, it’s looking very good for the Punker!

John Morrison – If WWE were to tweak his character a bit, I’m sure they could really get him over as a big money man. Morrison’s in-ring work is great. Get him away from The Miz, put him on SmackDown and you’ve got yourself some gold.

Mr Kennedy – If he can stay healthy, he’s going to be an awesome top guy in the company. Kennedy is amazing on the mic, his in ring stuff is good too. Stay healthy and it’s a matter of time.

Shelton Benjamin – The biggest problem I see here is Benjamin’s character. While ‘The Gold Standard’ is very talented in the ring. His mic work and his overall character leaves a lot to be desired.

I think that about rounds out this column. If there’s someone I’ve missed, or there’s someone you would like to see as a main event guy. Please use the comment form below this column and send me your all important thoughts and opinions.

  1. well i dont reallt think that mvp is a good wrestler

even if he wins championship becomes maineventer i m not going 2 become his fan

u r right 4 chirtian and cm punk they can give main event matches

  2. i agree with matt saye but i would like to see R-truth he’s very athlitic and has a lot of skill. but i can see him as wwe champion.

  3. is everone goe loopie mvp has all the tools hes been in mainevnt matches hes finly turnning good but i would also say hes no triple h but who is so as far mvp gose he has my vote and one more thing get vadimer kaslof out of the wwe forever he screws up way to much i seen the undertake tri to give him snake eyes he almost didnt let go of the taker so get him out plezzzzz

  4. christian was so much better in TNA.

TNA is obviously better anyway and lockdown is going to be awesome.

  5. I agree with all of these besides Mr. Kennedy. He has no mic skills, has subpar wrestling abilities and I find him annoying.

  6. Let’s not forget about Ted Dibiase. Even if he’s not main event material yet he sure can get there.

  7. John Morrison totally deserves a main event boost outside the tag team division. I’d also like to see Kofi as a main eventer

  8. Look no further than Ted Jr. Whenever he gets an opportunity in a proper wrestling match he works as well as many of the main eventers. If Legacy works as well for DiBiase as Evolution did in moulding Orton (fingers crossed) then there’s a World Title with his name on it within a year or 2.

  9. Really disagree with Ant on the mic skills of Kennedy but is right on wrestling ability but he is no different than Cena. Christian should get a push in ECW with a good rivalry with Jack Swagger. John Morrison should change his gimmick totally more like Edge! Man can’t agree more with you guys about Dibiasse gonna be a good one as of now though they should add one or two members to legacy to push just how strong Randy Orton (huge fan of Orton). Shelton Benjamin would be better served on ECW with a push there, needs some real help on the mic! As for Punk im not sold on Punk mic skills aren’t there exciting to watch and plays underdog role fantastic but is he ever gonna be a real viable champ with that role. MVP please change the body suit gimmick with all the crap golves, headband, nose strip etc. and one suprise would be The Miz with a legit name and a new attire, never say never
