Pro wrestling is both an art form as well as a sport, and juicing should always be a part of it.As an ex-wrestler myself,I can say that nothing brings more to a match than "color".People who criticize juicing fail to realize that it took hundreds of guy's back in the 1970's and 80's,who weren't selfish, and were committed to protecting the buisness, and making it the huge box office draw that it is today by spilling a little blood and putting a few badges(scars)on their forehead's.Was it overused back in the day to compensate for lack of ability?Certainly. Is it overused today on the indy circuit? Most definately. But make no mistake about it;the day that blood is taken completely out of wrestling is the day that wrestling dies.I mean it's bad enough that the WWE has to use actor's musician's and comedian's to put their show's over. But when you take the blood out of wrestling, then you take the heart out of wrestling. The risk of spreading blood borne pathogen's is the same whether or not the blood loss is accidental or intentional, and if that's the whole issue, then maybe there are a lot of guy's who really should exercise some control in their private lives in order to protect themselves as well as their co-worker's,and the wrestling buisness.I believe that cage matches of any kind without blood are an insult to the history of wrestling and to guy's like me who had the ball's to blade, and give the mark's their money's worth.

A neat article there. Blading is one the most hard-to-explain parts of the sport but I personally think it should remain because when done properly it can really help to emphasise a brutal match (I was watching some of the WWE's HHH v. HBK matches from 2002 recently, many of which had blood, and it really does help to make these matches seem passionately fought). However I, like many fans, have no love for the "all-blood" cards of some of the minor leagues - ECW, from which they are mostly inspired, had a very good balance of the brutal matches, making them so infrequent that they became exciting rather than just every-show events.

It's part of the show, and probably always will be; though there probably should be some precautions taken, mainly due to the dangers of blood-carried diseases.

Very good article. I think back to Michaels Vs Hogan at Summerslam a few years back when Hogan was bleeding drapes down HBKs arm while HBK had him in a choke hold. Sometimes it's just too much. Less is more.

Great Great article. As an indy wrestler, and a long time historian and die hard fan, I have to say this article told the story of blading to a tee. Every account I've heard from the oldtimers goes right along the line with this article. Great Job.

Great article Keelan! In a way it seems as though blading is bad and I can see why many wrestlers would refuse to blade themselves. Although I believe blood should be apart of wrestling, but sometimes the bleeding can go a little too far. I still believe the Motor City Machine Guns are stll in the dog house because of them refusing to blade with Team 3D.
