Hey this is Joseph Holler from Alabama with another Monday Night Raw Recap. Before we get started, I just want to throw in my 2 cents on last night’s Wrestlemania. I paid $65 for the HD version. I thought the event was very subpar. The highlights were the Undertaker/Michaels match(one of the greatest, still dnt know how Taker didn’t break his neck), MITB, the opening pyro and Steve Austin just drinking beers. The rest was disappointing to say the least.

Back to Raw, Raw starts with picture highlights of Wrestlemania. Raw’s opening music starts and we are live in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center(which is 12 miles from Reliant Stadium). We start with Randy Ortons music, who is sporting a nice bruise on the side of his face. Their match last night was one of those I thought would be spectacular but was a little lackluster. Randy starts with saying that HHH illegally used a sledgehammer in their match. Orton says he is owed a rematch and that he will beat HHH to become champion. The crowd then starts chanting RKO RKO which shows that Orton is pretty popular(one of my favs) with the fans. Orton then says he hasn’t seen Linda Mcmahon in a while(which prompts a woman to chant wife beater) and he should introduce himself to Vince’s grand children.

Right after saying those things, Vince’s music comes on and Vince looks pissed. He walks to the ring in a hurried manner which makes Orton leave the ring. Vince says that if you want a Mcmahon that there is one in the ring right now. He then says that what he wont give Orton is an another championship match. Vince then announces that the Legacy will face Shane, HHH and Vince at Backlash. Orton then says how about him vs Vince tonight. Vince reluctantly accepts the solo match.

John Morrison and The Miz vs Carlito and Primo

Back from commercial break and its time for thetag match that was absent from the $65 pay perview. First up is John Morrison and The Miz. I think Morrison is going to be a heck of a star in the next 2 years. He reminds me of a young Rick Rude/Mr. Perfect type attitude but with the star looks.

Morrison and Miz are facing Carilito and Primo for the Unified tag team titles in a lumberjack match. Carlito and Morrison start the match off. Carlito and Primo take the early advantage against Morrison. Primo drop kicks Morrison to the outside where a little bit of action ensues with the lumberjacks. We cut to a commercial and when we return Miz and Morrison have gained control of the match. Carlito is tagged in and hits Miz with a swinigng neck breaker. Carlito goes to the top rope but Miz stops him.Miz then tries for a superplex but is blocked, then they both fall off the top rope into the lumberjacks. Then Primo dives to the floor onto Miz and the lumberjacks. Then Morrison goes to the top rope and hits the shooting star press(so beautiful to watch) on 10 wrestlers on the floor. While everyone is laid out, Miz gets back in the ring with carlito. Carlito goes for a cover on Miz but Morrison comes and kicks him in the head. Primo comes in and hurricanrana’s Morrison over the top rope. Carlito tries the back stabber on Miz but Miz holds onto the ropes and goes for cover but only a 2 count. Miz then catches carlito where carlito is just sitting on his shoulders. Carlito somehow counters and hits Miz with the backstabber to end it. Surprisingly entertaining match. It kinda seems like this might be the last tag match for Miz and Morrison. I think its possible they may get drafted into different shows next week.

The cameras now are in an office showing Vince Mcmahon when Shane comes in. He says Backlash is suppose to be a 6 man tag. Vince says he never backs down from a challenge. Shane walks away thinking Vince is a moron.

Commercial time and another promo for John Cena’s new movie, 12 Rounds. Has anone seen it yet? Good? Bad? Soso?

Raw vs Smackdown Divas match.

Raw team consists of Melina(not as cute anymore),KellyKelly(hot),Mickie James(prettycute), Jillian Hall(nope), Leila(anyone see the way she got in the ring,omg). The Smackdown team consists of Natalya, eve torres, Maria, gail kim and Maryse(hot).

The match starts with gail Kim and Melina. They actually show some athleticism and flexibility. After those 2 females are tagged out, its Natalya and Mickie James. Mickie takes a very hard fall on her head in the ring. natalya goes for the pin but Leila breaks it up then gets thrown outside the ring where all crazyness ensues. All the girls are fighting on the outside when Mickie hits Natalya with a devastating DDT to end the match. Raw Girls win!

Cameras find Shane walking to HHH. Shane tells HHH to talk to Vince and talk some sense to him.

Big 8 man Tag Team match

The good guys team is Jeff Hardy, CM Punk with the MITB briefcase, Rey Misterio (new icchamp), John Cena(new world champ), and Ricky Steamboat. The bad guys team is Chris Jericho, Kane, Matt Hardy, Edge and the Big Show. Did you know that Kane use to be in the WWF as Dr. Yankem and that he was the fake “Diesel” back in the day. Old memories. anywayz

Match starts with Misterio and Matt Hardy. Quickly Rey tags Jeff into the match which prompts Matt to tag in Edge. Jeff hits a couple shots on Edge then tags in Cena. Cena hits edge with a 1 handed bulldog, then tags in Steamboat who hits Edge with a shot off the top rope. Steamboat still has it. Steamboat hits a few moves on Edge before Edge hits him with a knee. He then tags in Kane but Kane gets hit by some chops by Steamboat. Steamboat then dropkicks a few guys who come in the ring. Steamboat then goes back to the top rope and hits kane with a flying fist. Steamboat goes to the ropes but Kane catches him with a vicious sideslam. Kane then tags in an eager Jericho. Jericho then kicks Steamboat and holds him while tagging Big Show. Show hits Steamboat with a big slap then works him over in the corner. The fan start going crazy for steamboat. Steamboat attempts to fight back but Show eneds that with a big headbutt. Jericho is tagged back in and puts steamboat in a half hearted sleeper. He doesn’t even have it locked. Steamboat finally hits Jericho in the face with some punches to get out. Jericho then puts Steamboat in the Walls of Jericho and somehow Steamboat turns it into a small package for a 2 count. Steamboat tags in CM Punk who promptly hits Jericho with a flying clothesline and kicks. Kane finally stops his momentum with a punch while the ref had back turned. Kane is tagged in when we go to a commercial. After a little bit it’s Big Show and CM. Big Show hits CM with a big slap in the corner then he slaps Edge real hard on the arm to come in. Edge couple shots then tags in Kane. Kane puts CM on top rope but CM fights kane down, then Cm jumps from top rope but Kane catches him w 1 hand and tries for a chokeslam but CM counters it and hits him with a DDT. CM tags in jeff hardy and kane tags in edge. Jeff goes on a run with moves, then a high flying move off top rope. Matt jumps in but jeff throws him outside then flys to the floor hitting matt. Jeff did tag Cena who comes in and is about to hit Edge with the attitude adjuster(lame name) but Show comes in and picks up Cena who manages to tag Misterio in. Misterio hits Edge w a few fast moving moves and he has Edge setup for the 619 but jericho catches misterio who hurricanrana’s jericho into the rope and hits both of them with the 619. Crowd is going crazy! Rey and Steamboat go to the top ropes and both hit splashes. Rey pins Jericho to win it. Pretty good match. A lot of action to type.

Interesting note. After the match, all the good guys are celebrating and CM is looking at Cena as if he might hit him and use the briefcase to take the title by surprise. Nothing happens though but something to keep an eye on.

After the match, HHH goes into Vince’s office and Vince quickly tells him he doesn’t want to hear it. HHH tells Vince to finish it.

Vickie Guerrero comes out and the crowd lets her have it. Excuse me@!!!!

She says that the board told her she can only be GM of one show, Raw or Smackdown. She says she will become the permanent GM of RAW. She says that her husband Edge will have rematch with Cena at Backlash. She ends it with announcing that the winner of the 6 man tag teammatch between HHH’s team vs Orton’s team will be for the title. Hmm.

Nevermind Vickie had to come back out bc she apparently left out that Cena and Edge would be a last man standing match.

Quick hall of fame video

We return back to Raw and its Santina Marella who won the Diva battle royal. He gives a quick sorda funny promo when all of a sudden Beth Pheonix comes out. Beth tells Santino(a) to cut the crap. Beth then challenges her or him to a match. Santino tells beth that he is more of a woman than she’ll ever be. Santino accepts the challenge and a ref runs out. Beth hits him with a couple shots in the corner. Beth picks him up in a bodyslam but santino grabs the ropes.. they struggle and finally beth yanks him down but he lands on top of her and he pins her to win the match. The match was dorkinly entertaining and the crowd liked it. I wish they would give beth another womens run. She is head and shoulders above the other female wrestlers.

Randy Orton vs Vince Mcmahon

Orton comes out first, then Vince. Vince doesn’t look as bulked up as he has in the past when he wrestled stone cold. The two man stand looking at each for a moment then vince slaps Orton knocking him to his knees. He proceeds to hit Orton with a few punches that look pretty real. He kicks Orton out of the ring then bounces his head off the announcers table. The action is a little slow. Vince has led the entire match thus far. They finally get back into the ring, this time orton catches vince and hits him with a modified back breaker. Orton hits Vince with some knees to the back of the head. He then picks up Vince and hits him with a RKO! Orton stalks Vince and he gets ready to kick him in the head again and right before he kicks him, shane runs in and punches orton down. He keeps punching Orton when Dibiase and Rhodes come out and take out Shane. The 3 assault Shane until HHH comes out and hits Rhodes and throws dibiase into ring barrier. He jumps in the ring and him and Orton go at it. Dibiase and Rhodes come back in and they all beat on HHH.

While they are pummeling HHH, Batista’s music comes on. Huge POP!!!

The Legacy looks stunned as Batista walks out. he enters the ring spearing Orton and taking out the other 2. He cleans out the ring but not before HHH throws Rhodes back into the ring. Shane then pushes Rhodes into Batista and he hits him with the Batista Bomb.(why does rhodes keep getting the extra moves done to him). I have no clue where Vince went to during all of this.

We now figure out where Vince is as he is on the outside with a microphone. He tells Orton that he is right that he wont be at Backlash, but that Batista will be taking his place. Orton Is livid after hearing this especially since the title is at stake.

The show ends there but it was a pretty solid show. They already got some of the matches pretty much set with Edge/cena,and the 6 man tag for the title at Backlash. I look forward to the big draft next week. I am a much bigger fan of Raw than Smackdown. I would like to keep the current lineup pretty much the same.

I think this is my last recap unless nobody else steps up to do it lol. I am going to leave this to the semi professionals but I will def keep coming back to this site as a fan. Thanks to Keelan for letting me do a few of these. He runs a tremendous site and pretty much does it by himself.
