Full Report:
- Prior to the show airing there was 15 Diva Battle Royal pre-show.
- MVP Defeated Jack Swagger:
Despite Jack Swagger wanting to use MVP as a stepping stone to the next stage of his career, The Franchise Playa denied him of that opportunity by topping everything Swagger threw at him and picking up the win. Things are far from over between these two, as what has been deemed a “culture clash” has evolved into something more resembling a war between two very different worlds.
- Kane Defeated Khali:
Kane’s diabolical ways worked to his advantage, allowing The Big Red Monster to get the pin – and the victory – over The Great Khali. Khali and Kane traded barbaric blows heard throughout the sold-out STAPLES Center and the millions of WWE Universe members watching at home. Khali seemingly had Kane down for the count – until The Big Red Monster grabbed Khali’s brother, Ranjin Singh, and held him captive in the middle of the ring. Khali tried to aid his sibling, but ultimately, with the distraction, a low dropkick and a DDT gave Kane the mammoth win.
- Christian Defeats William Regal:
In a lightening-quick win, ECW Champ Christian hit William Regal with the Killswitch before he could even remove his robe. But after, he was viciously assaulted by Ezekiel Jackson & Vladimir Kozlov.
[WWE has to stop these stupidly quick ECW matches; Regal is a great talent and needs to go long].
- Rey Mysterio Defeated Dolph Ziggler:
Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio successfully defended his gold against Dolph Ziggler. But, the young Superstar pushed the veteran to his limit, showing signs of improvement since their last title encounter.
- Jericho & Big Show Defeated Cryme Tyme:
Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho & Big Show reigned supreme over an ultra-tough Cryme Tyme onslaught, continuing to cement their seemingly unbeatable dominance amidst the tag team ranks of WWE. Though Cryme Tyme’s determination rivaled the very heat of the California sun, the awesome tag team powerhouse that is Jericho & Big Show ultimately showed why the glimmer of their golden union shines the brightest. In the culmination of this hard-fought match, things looked to be heading Cryme Tyme’s way, as Shad suddenly expelled Big Show from the ring, sending summertime shockwaves through the amazed WWE Universe. However, a golden celebration proved premature. After JTG heroically battled back from the Walls of Jericho, The World’s Largest Athlete suddenly launched a stuttering knockout blow from outside the ring, giving his partner the monumental victory.”
- Randy Orton Defeats John Cena:
WWE Champion Randy Orton attempted to slither past his opponent John Cena using all manner of tricks. And while many paths were blocked to Orton, it only took one odd opening for The Viper to sink his fangs deep into Cena, lay him out with an RKO and retain the WWE Title. First, the WWE Champion tried to get himself disqualified, realizing that the title cannot change hands due to a disqualification. Unfortunately for Orton, Mr. McMahon wouldn’t hear of it. The Viper was also willing to lose the match by count-out, a loss that would also not allow a title change. Mr. McMahon, however, once again put his foot down. Realizing he must face Cena were he to keep his precious gold, Orton reluctantly climbed into the ring. After the two engaged one another, Cena appeared mere seconds from victory when an overzealous member of the WWE Universe charged the ring and accosted the referee. As security swarmed, The Viper took advantage of the distraction, quickly confronting Cena and administering a devastating RKO to pin his foe for the win.
- CM Punk Defeated Jeff Hardy:
In the closing moments of the unforgettably brutal Tables, Ladders & Chairs main event, a battered and bruised CM Punk knocked Jeff Hardy from the top of a 20-foot ladder and snatched the World Heavyweight Championship, winning the title and shocking the WWE Universe. But Punk’s celebration didn’t last long. Seconds after The Straightedge Superstar hugged his gold, the arena lights went out. When they came back on, Undertaker was in the center of the ring. Before Punk could react to what he was seeing, The Deadman grabbed him by the throat and viciously chokeslammed him to the mat, sending a clear and direct message to the new champion.
- DX Defeated Legacy:
After an explosive entrance from D-Generation X that saw Triple H & Michaels ride out on a vintage tank, Legacy entered the ring at SummerSlam, ready to benefit from the tutelage of Randy Orton. Putting every one of their mentor’s devious tricks to use, Rhodes & DiBiase made frequent tags, hoping to keep their opponents on the defense. But, despite Legacy’s aggression and willingness to utilize every underhanded tactic at their disposal, the less-experienced team was ultimately defeated when Michaels managed to “break it down” by delivering some devastating Sweet Chin Music to Rhodes.

Worst PPV this year. I cant believe i stayed up for this, but i feel sorry for all those who payed.
Not one GOOD match, not one!
No WWE fan can insult TNA PPVs after this dismel display from the aparent “second biggest” show WWE has to offer.
introduction of a new rival means bye bye for Jeff Hardy and hello to another painfully repetative storyline.
Why the hell have DX win, i don get it, rhodes and dibiase will never get over, and dolph ziggler, they need new stars, not old boring repetetive ones
THE UNDERTAKER IS BACK and hopefully wont get injured again.
Damn you can tell Vince doesnt like Hardy or CM very much. He gave them a pair of title reigns but only to use them as transition champions, until one of the real stars(undertaker/edge) could make it back.
yea it sucked, does any one else think TNA Hard Justice Was Better. That Asylem match was just an opener but was way better than the wwe main event.
umm i liked summerslam? wtf i thought the TLC match was exciting and DX vs Lagacy was a solid match.. the Fan that came into the ring during the WWE Championship Match, was that a setup? bc i thought it was for real bc they didn’t show it in the recap videos….:)
I thought ss was okay. I predicted some of the matches going in. Mysterio beating Ziggler was a surprise. I thought they were going to put the strap on Ziggler, guess not. Punk vs Hardy was a good match as predicted. And, again as predicted, Hardy lost. Don’t know why they didn’t let Legacy win. As the poster said earlier, they’ll (wwe) never let Rhodes and Debiase get over. This is not how you build your “future” stars. you have to suck in your ego and let them win when it counts (and on Raw doesn’t count). you see, Raw is used to push superstars, while the ppv is supposed to be used to get said superstar over. Jericho was open about how wwe, Raw in particular, wasn’t doing a good job with establishing they’re young stars. C’mon wwe writers, give the young guys a break. Let them get over on ppv!
I agree with Scott TLC was pretty good they had some bad matches but they definetly werent all bad.
The fan was a setup
I thought that it was really good overall, then of course this is the first ppv I’ve watched in a long time. I agree that they should have had Ziggler win his match, which at the least stole the entire first half of the show. Hopefully that fued will continue thus really giving Ziggler the push he needs.
the DX/legacy should’ve definitely had the latter as winners. Rhodes and Dibiase are the the two hottest irons in the fire right now, I didn’t care for them until the last few weeks actually but they are entertaining as hell.
Even though I don’t like the Cryme Time gimmick and am a huge Jericho fan, they probably should’ve dropped the belts.
I even thought the Cena/Orton match was entertaining. I think the writers were face with “how do we keep Cena over but still do the same with Orton?”
Cena is a great athlete and actually a nice guy but I just don’t dig that character and he is usually the one who gets put over like crazy at any ppv, so I’m glad they let Randy keep the belt.
The Punk/Hardy thing was brilliant I thought, but having Hardy drop the belt after such a short time is kinda strange. And I hope they ‘explain’ the Undertaker coming after PUnk in an intelligent way. Then again, It is professional wrestling and not rocket science.
nvm… it was Brett DiBiase…Ted’s Bro..
summerslam was a good ppv. TLC was good and DX vs legacy was also a solid match and any one who thinks legacy should have won the match so here is a question for them , how the hell does it make sense that two young guys can defeat two veteran’s ???
so c’mon guys why most of you have to write negative comments about WWE and if you hate it that much why are you watching it, why to bitch about every bad thing. not every ppv can beconme 100% entertaining
i am so happy that dx won
Summerslam was the best WWE PPV since Wrestlemania and totally blew away anything TNA has put out there within the same time frame.Having said that,a few of the matches were extremely bad (Kane/Khali,MVP/Swagger) one was boring (DX/Legacy) and one was WAY too fast (Christian/Regal).
As others have said,WWE needs to let the younger talent get over at these PPV’s.I think the most disappointing aspect is not putting John Morrison in the TLC match. As good as the match was it would’ve been even better had Morrison been involved.
Overall I’d give Summerslam 7/10.
glad undertaker is back smackdown was getting boring tripleH and heartbreack kid should go home and stay there
I am glad Orton won,he deserves to win,he is the best wrestler out there. He is really really good at what he does. I love his character, never boring and you can tell he loves his character too. I wish Legacy could have won, they have come along way and doing really well. I do not like C.M.Punks character, before or now. I wish they would find someone else. He is whining too much. Glad to see Undertaker coming back and hope to see Edge soon. I liked his character with Vicky, hope to see her back also.
Does anyone know who will host raw next week?
i cant believe some of these tna fans, the only reason your bad mouthing summerslam is because it was one of the best ppv’s of the year. i really enjoyed it and so did everyone else i know. hearing u guys bitch makes me sick. most of the matches were very good [espeacialy seeing orton teach cena a lesso in wrestling]. my verdict 8.5 out of 10. hard justice 5.5 out of 10. please dont make your insecurity so obvious tna fans.
ciao
by the way that first message was intended for lazar, damn you sound scared that summerslam was pretty damn good.
I thought Ziggler – Mysterio and Hardy – Punk were both really good actually. But everything else was dire.
The thing is, TNA isn’t actually that incredible. Hard Justice wasn’t that good, that’s not the point. The point is that is was still better than Summerslam.
If Legacy had won, and they hadn’t had a great big firework display, and gone on, and on about celebrities it would have been a lot better, but it was just a meaningless pay-per-view. TNA have built a whole host of guys – not always in an ideal way, but still a billion times better than WWE do. What does a Triple H victory even mean anymore? Nothing at all. Well, it would for his fans for the night – and nothing after that. A Legacy win would mean something for the year, in terms of creating storylines, characters, events, matches where we don’t know the result before it even happens.
I actually thought Summerslam was pretty decent. I also enjoyed Hard Justice, the two companies have different styles so just enjoying them is enough for me. The only thing I thought was a bad decision by the WWE was having Ziggler lose to Mysterio. Summerslam should be the end to old feuds and the start of new ones, which is why Undertaker’s appearance worked, but having Ziggler lose means that either the rivalry is over and Ziggler didn’t get the belt or they will carry it on only to fizzle out at a lesser event.
As for Legacy beating DX it was doubtful. I was surprised they were able to take out DX on Raw, let alone actually beat them. I know it would have put Legacy majorly over but Cena and Hardy lost their matches so do you really expect the WWE to destroy all their kiddie fan’s dreams by having all their heroes lose at the biggest event of the summer? Never going to happen. (By the way why do kids like DX since they can’t have been around when they first formed, I swear I wasn’t that sheepish when I was a child)
Overall I think the WWE did a good job with Summerslam, but it certainly wasn’t a night for building new talent. But then why would it be? It’s the biggest event of the summer where you want to show everyone what you are all about, building new talent comes at the lesser events. Sure putting over young stars at a massive PPV would make a bold statement, but that isn’t what the WWE are all about, just look at the main events for the past couple of years. Normally I complain about the WWE but sometimes you’ve just got to face reality and acknowledge what kind of company makes the programs we enjoy.
Where you people watching the same thing i was? I noticed how short of the matches were, so i thought they were gonna do soemthing big for TLC, tlc happens and all we got was a swanton which we have seen hard do loads of time, so why this one injured him was beyound me. And u can tell wwe dosent even think outside of kayfab or they wouldnt have the whole jericho rey fued build up the prestige of the IC title and build up ziggler (who i also dont like) only to have rey hog it. Its as if all wwe is doing is pushing stars to lose to bigger stars.
Push morrison to lose to hardy
Push miz to lose to cena (over and over again)
Push ziggler to lose to REy
WHY? Maby u little wwe fans can explain that to me? DX match was kinda boring as i couldnt see legacy winning. Tag matches are the same all year round.
i think that it is fair that dx won cause leagacy to bostin and randy is not a good mentor to does boys day are to stupid.randyis jusy usin dem to do his duty work.if it was not for dem boys randy would not have been wwe champion.but when batista come back that championship will fly into batista hands know doubt about it.well cm punkis goin to get in a lot of trouble with the undertaker will get dat belt.randy orton is a big cheat.
SUMMERSLAM DID HAVE ITS HIGH AND LOW POINTS (KHALY VS. KANE) BUT EVEN WHEN I MYSELF LOVE COMPETITION BETWEEN DIFFERENTE WRESTLING COMPANIES HAVE TO SAY THAT SUMMERSLAM WASNT BAD AT ALL CONSIDERING THE CRAPPY PPVS DE WWE HAS BEEN PUTTING TOGUETHER AS OF LATE… I GET BOARD OF ORTON BUT CENA’S BEING PUT OVER HAS BECOME RIDICULUS AND EVEN MORE BORING… RAW NEED MVP AND OTHERS IN THE SPOT LIGHT FOR A WHILE.
