Man, I forgot all about that promotion until I read Kee's new article. I remember being so pumped for the shows, back in the day. I was so starved for something other than WWE. Looking back, the shows weren't that great. laugh.gif

I remember that they changed Commissioners every show. Bret Hart, Sid, Mike Sanders, lol.

From Phil Lyons' Youtube dealy:

I was a sucker for it also. I remember really wanting the XWF to succeed though. In fact I think it was Phil that hooked me up with the footage back then - didn't he even make a fan site or something?

Man, I was pulling big time for XWF & WWA back in the day, especially XWF. There was potential there but sadly Hogan going back to WWE really screwed up their chances of landing a TV deal. While obviously the actual wrestling was nothing special, especially in the case of XWF, I thought the promotions were fun to watch. WWA had some goofy and gimmicky sport entertainment-ish stuff while XWF had a sorta of a WCW Saturday Night type of feel to it. You know, just simple family-friendly good 'ol pro-wrestling.

Yep. It was me who hooked you up with some XWF footage, Kee. And yes, I did have a XWF Yahoo fan group which I think still exists to this very day. Recently, I was gonna upload the XWF TV shows over on my YouTube page but I ran into some technical issues when I tried to cut them into separate videos so that didn't work. I do have all of WWA's PPVs though and one of those days I might upload some more stuff.

I'd forgotten all about WWA also.

I saw a PPV where Jeff Jarrett was in the Main Event defending the NWA belt against Nathan Jones. It seems like this ran simultaneously to when WWE was running his introductory vignettes ("I survived X years in prison! I am Nathan Jones!") I thought they were cool (yeah, I said it laugh.gif ) and was looking forward to Jones's debut ... until I saw that match.

I also remember they were pimping Luger vs. Sting pretty heavily but with the lamest promos ever. Both of them basically just saying, "You were never good enough to beat me," over and over again.

I never saw any XWF until the Hogan Anthology DVD came out. I'd only read about it online.

Looking forward to the next installment of this series, Kee.

Sabu and Devon Storm/Crowbar had a really fun cage match in WWA, but I can't find any video.

Lol I didn't need to watch the video to laugh out loud "Scott Steiner beats up midgets"

They should hire Samoa Joe's nation of violence, that consists of just Joe and plastic knife.
