Here are my thoughts, I'm curious to know what everyone thought of the main event - it was definitely an evolution of wrestling and some might say a back to basics of pro wrestling:
- TNA "crossed the line" months ago and this month's PPV was a prime example of wrestling reaching a peak and coming back down. TNA have put on so many good events in the past, that as good as this month's was, it just didn't reach TNA's usual standards.
The whole card seemed to have been forgotten, and all the effort was put in to the main event, which I still can't decide if I liked or not. It was an experiment that will probably be continued at least in to th next PPV.
- The opener was fine, but nothing compared to past X-Division matches. No spots that haven't been done before (they've reached a peak) and the gimmicky rules ruined the match. Were they supposed to tag in? And if so didn't they all punch Johnny Devine? Isn't that usually a tag?
- The second bout was the Queen Of The Cage - it started clumsy because again it was an over gimmicked match and once Roxxi and Angelina got in there I knew Roxxi would walk out the winner. If not she would have just been buried, because she was the underdog (in a storyline sense) going in. Still their actual work was still better than anything WWE's women's division have been doing lately.
- BG James and Kip James' Rough Cut segments on Impact were golden, but as expected the match itself was just a case of "going through the motions."
- Yet again another stupid match. Something to do with cuffs. The work was pretty good but waiting for Super Eric was obvious, tedious and not what I wanted to see. LAX were the real stand outs in this match as they always are, and as boring as Kaz is character wise, you have to love the Flux-Capaciter.
- TNA love the hot blond interviewers!
- ODB & Gail Kim defeated TNA Women's Champion Awesome Kong & Raisha Saeed in a solid women's match, which I throughly enjoyed - although nothing stood out that said "hey we are on PPV."
- The whole Booker T and Robert Roode feud has bored me to living hell each week and to me their matches never get in to second gear. Solid but nothing special in my opinion.
- By time Lethal Lockdown came around I was ready for some hardcore garbage wrestling to relieve the boredom and I got it along with some solid action as well. The ladder table spot has been done before but I had visions of the top giving out (it nearly did by the looks of things) so it was awesome all the same.
- Now comes the main event, which I just can't decide whether I liked or not. To me it was a little too MMA, but near the end I got my money's worth (th live crowd loved it though). That being said both were very intense and there was good back and forth action. It just seems chain wrestling was replaced with ground & pound and submissions. It'll take a few more of these matches along with consistent build-up for me to really get behind the new approach. It still had a special feel to it thanks to the hype though. Whether people liked tis or not it was a pivotal match in wrestling history.
- Overall a poor PPV by TNA's standards. Everybody was hindered by some stipulation or another and I'd much rather have seen plain cage matches. Joe finally won the belt!
- QUICK RESULTS: Black Machismo Retains Roxxi Laveaux won the "Queen of the Cage" BG James defeated Kip James Super Eric & Kaz won the "Cuffed in the Cage" Match ODB & Gail Kim beat Kong's team Booker T & Sharmell defeated Robert Roode & Payton Banks Team Cage defeated Team Tomko in the Lethal Lockdown Match Samoa Joe is the new Champ!

A pivotal match in wrestling history. I guess u have never seen UWF,UWFI, Pancrase, RINGS, Pro-wrestling Kingdom, Battlearts. 'Shoot' style wrestling has been done before and started more than 20 years ago. America has been brainswashed Vince Mcmahon and others into thinking Pro-wrestling has always been like what u see today. Japan has used submission techniques in pro-wrestling for decades!!

I obviously mean in terms of what we see on national TV in America - don't be a smart ass.

("liger05":pi933ntk) A pivotal match in wrestling history. I really don't know about all that now. I enjoyed Joe vs. Angle and thought it was good. The experiment worked, imo. I don't think it's going to have a big impact on the way matches are done now, though. I wouldn't mind if more guys tried what Angle and Joe did last night, I just don't think it's going to change the industry or anything, honestly. Just a good, well-done match. X-Division match was fun. I liked the finish and the way they set it all up. Out of nowhere they remind us that Johnny Devine was one of the Paparazzi guys. Maybe we'll get Johnny Devine getting footage of Sonjay and Val being too friendly with one another, leading to Sonjay vs. Lethal, or something like that. The match was pretty fun, though. That match with all the tag teams having to handcuff one another to win, or whatever the stupid rules of this match were, was really fucking fun. I hate to say that because it was stupid, but this shit was fun to watch. Some really fun spots. Womens tag was solid. Saeed is awesome. She plays the character really well(I got an almost Muta vibe from her there, for a while). I want to see her wrestle more, preferably vs. Gail. Lethal Lockdown match was fun, as usual. Nothing else to say, really. Fun match. I really liked the swerve opening of the match. Very good PPV, imo. I'm excited for Joe vs. Steiner.

Just watched it. I gave it 3.5 stars at best. The match was ok but it wasnt 'shoot' style. Hyrbid shoot style wrestling is not that. At the start they had some submissions but it lacked certain things. Lack of real clinching and actual grappling for position on the ground. The takedown attempts were to simple and I dont think I saw one sprawl or one bit of takedown defence. Very silly considering Angle is an olympic wrestler. The strikes were ok not great but ok. The match was snug but I have seen stiffer matches than this. The reversals were stupid and typical Kurt Angle. The way he got out of the crossface into the ankle lock looked silly. Joe then gets out of the Angle lock back into the crossface and it looked to much like they were letting each other do it. There wasnt that much variety in the submission attempts. Very same as same as. I didnt see a lot of different techniques. I think a points system would of been better where if u get a rope break u lose a point. This brings more drama to the submissions and means the ropes cant be used all the time for escapes.
Maybe harsh but I'm judging this against 'shoot'' style from Japan and this was nowhere near that level.
I dont see how this was ****+ at all and no way Match of the year so far. I wouldnt call it an epic. To me it was a normal pro-wrestling match and nothing to different from a New Japan pro-wrestling main event. Joe v Kobashi was better than this!!

("liger05":raszecn8) The reversals were stupid and typical Kurt Angle. Oh man, I fucking hate that shit! I don't think Angle has ever had a big match that didn't have the stupid Ankle Lock reversal stuff. I was really enjoying this match, but then when it turned into Angle vs. Benoit/Nagata/Lesnar/every big name Angle has wrestled the last 5 years, then they lost me a little. Angle needs to seriously change up the formula once in a while. ANKLE LOCK!!! CROSSFACE!!!! ANKLE LOCK!!! CROSSFACE!!! ANKLE LOCK!!! CROSSS.... NO!!! ANOTHER ANKLE LOCK!!!

Very good PPV, imo. I'm excited for Joe vs. Steiner. I pretty much agree with that, though I probably enjoyed Angle/Joe a bit more than you did. I thought it was pretty great and right up there with there first two encounters. I'm barely a casual MMA viewer but I enjoyed the pseudo-MMA stuff. It was starting to get boring but then they threw in the pro-wrestling stuff and brought me back in, though, I also agree Kurt Angle's routine can get very very tiring to watch sometimes. Like all TNA PPVs this year I felt this one delivered. Though, this being Lockdown and the second most important TNA PPV of the year I guess the show could have been a little bit better but either way I don't really have much to complain about. What was supposed to deliver - delivered. BG/Kip was pretty mediocre but man, I'll just go ahead and say it: outside of Jerry Lawler, BG James is probably the man with the best punches in wrestling today. Some of those shots on Kip were a thing of beauty. I'm glad Roxxi won the Queen of the Cage. Just thought I'd throw in that as well. Like I said. Good PPV. I'd probably rate it at about 7.5/10.
