Is it just me, or does anyone else think Rey Mysterio is overrated?

This guys moveset is so limited...granted...it does consist of 3 or 4 entertaining moves...but he does them over and over and over again, and it's getting boring.. how many times can you do a huracanrana in a match? Answer: Not enough if you're Rey Mysterio.

Let's just look at the 6-1-9 a second.. this has got to be the least convincing 'finisher' in Wrestling history.. why.. it's the set up. It starts with a huracanrana. Now normally, hit one of these, and most opponents will kick out at a 2, yet when it's Rey, and when he's going for the 6-1-9, the huracanrana leaves his opponents hanging on the rope for 10 seconds before he hits the 6-1-9. 619 wouldnt be so bad if it wasn't set up with a huracanrana... but the way it's all executed just makes it look silly, with Rey's opponents always conveniently landing on the ropes.

I'm not a total Rey-Hater. I admit, alot of his matches are quite entertaining, it's just that I'm quickly growing tired of his moveset... can't he invent something else... as all his matches are the same....

I don't agree that he is overrated, but I AGREE 100% on the 619.

It does, indeed, murder any suspension of disbelief. If we can turn our Kayfabe meter up to 100 for a moment, think about it this way:

If wrestlers were to truly scout their opponents, wouldn't ONE of them SOONER OR LATER notice, "Hey! I should move when my upper body is draped over the second rope!"

I detest finishing moves like the 619.

He's not overrated, just past his prime and a little burnt out character wise. If WWE would stop putting him in there with Giants he might have some better matches.

^ Exactly when I see him do battle with Kane I think he can't retire fast enough.

But when I see the series of matches he has had recently with Jericho I remember he is still pretty damn good.

Can't disagree more about the 6-1-9 hate..

I find no difference between Rey setting them up on the ropes and Rock removing his elbow pad. It lets the people know whats coming and that's what gets people excited. The couple second gap to wonder, 'it's coming!! But will they move or will he hit it?' The little details like that in Rey's performances is why he is so damn over.

Moves like the Canadian Destroyer I would rant all day about how stupid they are heh..

With all that said though if Rey were to wrestle somewhere like NJPW he'd have to cut that crap out. That's something that could really only be used in the western cultures.

Also Rey was never ever over rated, re watch his entire career.. just like everyone he's not able to do what he used to. But the fact he can put on matches like he did with Jericho and performances like he did in the Elimination Chamber with so many knee surgeries makes him damn near super human to me.

You are all correct.

But, Rey isn't to blame, the WWE is.

Rey was one of the most entertaining folks in the world to watch, about 10 years ago.

This is the problem with WWE and "talent". They wait for a wrestler to create a name for themselves, before making it to the big show (no pun intended). People like Cactus Jack, Rey Mysterio, Psychosis, Super Crazy, Ultimo Dragon.

Now, by the time these people who were amazing in their 20's hit the WWE, they are in their 30's, and can't do the flash they once pulled.

Bearing in mind that WWE is mainly "entertainment", moves like the 619 are not there for the steak, they are there for the sizzle.

Other moves that are totally useless, yet over: People's Elbow. The Worm. 5 Knuckle Shuffle,

I'm sure there are more. But, this is Entertainment, not wrestilng.
