I've said many times on here that I like Cena as a performer, but the last two posts are pretty much on the money.
He is used improperly and there is no depth to his persona, much like most of the "characters" on the roster. The only ones with any real depth are Jericho, HBK, Taker, HHH and (arguably) Edge.
There's no real back story or tradition that makes us care about John Cena because it's the same thing over and over again. Feuds last a month or two and, a year later, no one remembers or cares about them. Not just Cena but everyone.
The only John Cena feud that stands out in my memory is his program with the Undertaker, back when he was still a rapper.
Had John Cena been around 25 years ago, every one on this board (all five of us

) would still be talking about his legendary career and wishing there were more guys like him on the scene today.
Unfortunately for him (and us), his career his taking place today...in a time when no one really knows what to do with him other than have him wear a championship belt around his neck and pretend to be some bizarre cross between an apple pie marine and a wannabe-thug.
